Seriously....he plays like a bus driver, holding onto the ball, and then dink and dunking it. Then throws 2 yard out routes to witten on 3rd and 8. Regardless if it's the play call or not.

Orton was doing the same thing, except it got rid of it faster.

Orton was definitely doing the same thing. The heck were you guys watching?

Orton threw the hot route to our slow TEs on just about every 3rd and long. Worked once to Escobar and that's it.

I know he can come back just fine in 2014 but Jerry has to get the QB of the future sooner than later!

IRVING (CBSDFW.COM) – Tony Romo lurched slowly around Valley Ranch on the Monday following the end of the Dallas Cowboys’ season, attending the year’s final team meeting as a gesture meant to provide fellow players an emotional lift after failing to secure a playoff berth.

But that will be the only sort of “lifting’’ Romo will be doing for a while, as sources say the three-to-four-month recovery period for back surgery is a result of the herniated disc procedure he underwent on Friday that may have revealed an additional complication: a rupture of jelly-like “disc material’’ into the spinal canal.

That “material’’ in the spinal canal can cause pressure on the nerves in the spine and a chemical irritation of the nerve roots. That can mean pain and a loss of motor skills – both clearly factors in the decision to give up on a “miracle’’ comeback for Romo, who played with this condition at the end of the Week 16 win at Washington but, even after receiving treatment and a steroid injection, could not function during the week before the Eagles finale – and therefore, the decision to undergo surgery.

Well i have had this exact Surgery... i had bulge in L3/L4 L4/L5 and rupture of L5/S1 Disks. I can tell you its a full 8 month recovery time, and even after that your mind is not right. i used be a Sponsored Skateboarder and now i cannot even get on one and do tricks. any time i try and ride a ramp i can go up and down it but not do any airs just for the simple fact of not wanting to land wrong and rupture or bulge anymore disks. its been 4 years since my surgery and i can tell you i still am super cautious when doing anything on Skateboard.. just think everytime someone goes to tackle him he's going to be thinking about it.

WE NEED TO DRAFT A QB in RD 2 at least.

Why does everyone think all injuries and surgeries are equal?

I doubt a floating fragment of disc would cause paralysis but it's possible. This is not a big deal until it becomes a big deal which is much less likely than likely. Upon awakening he would know if the nerve root is decompressed which the surgeon would know before closing. Unless he gets an infection or significant scar tissue he should do fine. We'll see. We should know well before the draft how he's doing.

Generally the drop off for top notch QBs is 38+. More don't do well after that point but there are exceptions. Romo's game makes me think he can go to 38-39.

A floating fragment of disc tissue can and will cause paralysis if it is not removed. It will also weaken arms and legs. If the ruptured disc has to be taken out, he will be looking at spinal fusion which is not good for anybody, especially a pro athlete. If this problem has been with him for a while, the chances if nerve damage will be much greater and the healing process will take longer. Scar tissue might be another issue he has to deal with that could cause a lifetime of problems. On the bright side, he has the money to see the best doctors in the world, which makes a difference.

Sorry to hear about your situation! Yeah they need to draft a QB early, there's some good ones coming out.

It would be a good ideal to bite the bullet and draft the best QB possible. As you know, these surgeries may solve the big problem, but it is replaced by several small problems.

yeah i can tell you i had issues with spasms in my leg and feet for 1 and 1/2 years after the surgery. still 4 years later i have to do back exercises every morning for about 30 min. now i do not have the best trainers in the business, so his issues may not be as bad as mine were but just picking up your kids and caring them can be a pain literally sometimes, then you have to do stretches to loosen up. So i would say diffidently, we need a good back up next year "Keep Orton" and get a good Rookie to groom to start in 3 years. even if he is able to come back from this this year, he will have lingering pain for the rest of his life. backs are no joke.

That's why he get's paid what he is getting paid. Bus Driver money. Romo needs to get the same pay rate, or actually take this team by the horns, and go for the gore, starting with usuing your number 1 talent in Dez. Stop letting the Defense dictate what you do.

lol @ Romo going to 38 or 39. I would be willing to bet money he doesn't.

And what evidence do you have that says he won't? I stated facts that are easy to verify. Your opinion is welcome to me but not scoffing at the facts. There are no guarantees in life but I see no reason Romo can't play another few years. We'll know how he's looking in a few weeks.

unless the team knows that romo cannot or will be ready for the season or hasn't healed sufficiently, they should not focus on a QB with the first two picks. I can see grabbing one in the 3rd or 4th and Aaron Murray is the guy that I would like to see get drafted...they could either carry 3 QB's, or if he hasn't healed from his ACL, then red-shirt for a year (IR) so that he can't be grabbed off of the PS....I think Murray is the real deal....

Not taking sides in the Romo debate but this doesn't sound good at all. Romo wasn't himself before the Washington game even though the stats don't show it. I like Romo but we need to draft a QB somewhere around the 3rd round and hope for the best....

I truly wish we would pull the trigger on a QB in the 3rd round. Maybe we get lucky like the Seagulls. I would love to pick up AJ McCarron, or that kid out of Michigan State.

You stated no facts that would lead to Romo playing until 38 or 39. Every player is genetically different. Just because some other players have made it that long don't mean Romo will. He is breaking down before our eyes physically and mentally. I'm willing to back my opinion with money. Romo will not be playing football at 38. Want to bet?

I would love to get Mccarron as well. Don't know if he will be there that late though.

McCarron is not an NFL-ready stud QB to me. He's able to manage games because he has a great defense and run game and a lot of talent all around him. There aren't many quarterbacks who have been successful in the NFL who saw either no improvement or even regression in their passer rating as they played their senior year. Leinart and Dorsey come to mind there.
