Cowboys Need a WR in the first 3 rounds if Austin Cut

That's not the way to look at it. It would be a mistake to take a DL in the 2nd round that you have rated a 3rd round player over a WR that you have rated a 1st round player. No reason to reach that much for need. You take the BPA per need and another WR is a need. I will be fine taking a WR over DL or OL or secondary if the WR you pick is rated much higher than ye other players left to pick.

Now if all equal 2nd round WR and 2nd round DL there in the 2nd I would take the DL. Just depends on who is there when you pick.

I would be ok going WR in the second or later if he was the highest rated guy on our board and Dallas simply thought he was too good to pass up. However, we would also be fine without drafting one too, IMO.

Dez and Williams at the starting positions is better than fine. Harris/Beasley in the slot would be a terrific combo. Plus Witten/Escobar/Hannah at TE would be very, very good.

So in 3 WR sets, we would have Dez and Williams out wide, with Harris in the slot and Witten at TE. That is some very good targets for the QB.

In 2 TE sets, Dez and Williams would be out wide with Escobar and Witten playing TE.

We would be just fine with those guys to throw to.

I would draft DAT from Oregon he is a weapon u can install him all over the field he is a game changer and a serious weapon ..but with the offensive coordinator Dallas has he wouldn't know what to do

The problem is we don't have anyone to take over for dez Or Williams if they are injured.

Came here to post this exact same thing and it wouldn't cost us a early round draft pick either.

Kevin Norwood's hands are about as reliable as duct tape. All he does is make plays despite getting the publicity like other WR

I agree with you that not every position can be a strength.. But with Garrett and Romo at the helm this team will be a passing team and WR is one of the few positions that must be a strength if this team will be successful.

I disagree. I rather have a dominating offense of line and running back than talented receivers.

We have to count Esco as a WR, for the most part, so you're still looking at Dez, Williams, Esco, Harris, Beasley. I'm more than comfortable with that, maybe pick up a vet for depth.

I'd be disappointed if we took a WR in the 1st, or even in the 2nd round unless the value is overwhelming.
This defense is rolling guys out there that many teams would not even allow to edit on their bench. We could draft defense for all 7 rounds and still not be done.

But, as always, if a steal falls in your lap in the mid-later rounds, you should take that player regardless of position.
Injuries can change strengths to weaknesses seemingly overnight.

Unless an absolute stud falls to the 3rd or 4th no WR. With Harris, Beasley we really do not need an Austin replacement unless Williams,or the other two get hurt. In this offense a journey man is fine for a short term fill in. Lets be real if Dez go downs the Offense is screwed.

Just watching this season it's hard to imagine spending any of our prime picks 1-4 on offense. DE, DT, LB and S are huge needs and we should dedicate our resources to those positions. If Williams is good, he will replace Austin. If he is not that good, then it's obvious Romo is capable of making lesser talent perform better because Williams did fine for his first year and WRs were not the problem on offense. The play calling was/is. I am all for drafting a coach if we could.

Him or Donte Moncrief would be great gets later in the draft, seen both going anywhere from 4th-6th.

As long as Jason Witten is on the roster, we're fine with what we have at WR. Williams becomes the WR2, Beasley the WR3.

We don't need to draft a WR in this draft. We also have like 2 or 3 guys on the roster as well under futures contracts.
