Here's what I got from the championship games

All 4 teams in today's championship games have real defenses, and it showed, especially in the NFC Championship game. Toward the end of the game with SF driving and a 6 point deficit, I had to remind myself what a great D the Seahags have. If that drive had been against the Cowboys' D, I'm 100 percent certain they would have scored.

I watched some quality football today, the kind I want the Cowboys to be able to play again. There's been a movement in the league to create "exciting" offense-based football with pro-offense rules designed to make the defense weak. Some would love to see a league in which every team has a defense as crappy as the Cowboys' and as good an offense as the Broncos so that we get "exciting" games with back-to-back scoring. I'm glad at least for now that movement has been thwarted and some teams have been able to build quality Ds anyway.

I want a new Doomsday D, one that gives me confidence they can stop anyone. I hope the bozos who want NFL games that end up with basketball-like scores never get their way.

I don't think the Broncos have a real defense. Their defense benefits quite a bit from what their offense does. I do think you need to have a good defense and Dallas was certainly lacking. I'm all for them improving their defense, but I would not use the Broncos defense as a model.

I would have said that about the Broncos earlier in the season, but now their defense is looking a lot better. They stopped them when they needed to. Their D is definitely way better than ours.

I am not exactly a huge Romo fan, but if he had the defense and a coach's commitment to the running game that the other two NFC teams today had, he would be going to the Super Bowl.

I feel that way.

Correctamundo. That isn't a big reach at all.

I think the refs allow the defensive players to play a lot more aggressively in the playoffs.......that's my observation at least....no bs flags for every little touch.

Denver does not have a good defense. More like pats offensive skill position players blow.

well not like Seattle will be any better in that department. If they can stop Lynch, Wilson is not going to be able to win them the game.

Colin Kaepernick turned the ball over 3 times in his last 3 possessions, plus had a costly delay of game on 3rd and 1 which led to the first turnover.

And I haven't heard ANYBODY rip him.

If that was Tony Romo, slamming him would be the lead story in the media for a week.

True, but this isnt romos second season either.....??? Maybe that's why?

We should have realized that after the 2007 season. But we put the offense in Romo's hands. Imagine if we had taken the same approach with Romo as Seattle has with Wilson. Pass when you need to, but grind out the game on the ground. Build toughness then have a quarterback like Romo make the plays where you need him to.

Jerry Jones has totally botched the talent on this team. It's really a shame.

When Romo makes it to the NFC championship game and chokes, I won't say a word. But if he's choking before even making the playoffs, he doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as any QB in the playoffs.

It's Kaepernick's 3rd year (2nd year playing), and it wouldn't matter it it was his 10th year. The media's rules are different for Romo. He's the only QB who gets mocked and slammed for days after a late, costly turnover. Show me another QB who gets that kind of treatment.
