Sidney Rice to be released by Seahawks

Miles Austin's excuse was always about his hamstrings. Sidney Rice's excuse always extended to the rest of his body.

No thanks.

Miles Austin has started 33 games and appeared in 37 games during the last 3 seasons.

Sidney Rices has started 31 games and appeared in 33 games during the last 3 seasons.

he's a size monster and has good hands. wouldn't mind paying him to be our #3. Beasely and Harris are more...gadgety type guys imo. you aren't trotting them out there consistently in 3 wr sets unless you have no choice.

no

if we are able to finagle FA money, our targets should be:

1. Jarius Byrd (solve the FS problem)
2. Livnal Joseph > Henry Melton

there should be a pretty good WR available in rd 4 this year that can function as a #3

Heck yeah!

He is only in his late 20s and he would be a quality vet backup to Dez and Williams. Of course he would have to understand his role and accept a modest salary.
Would a role requirement include being on the field more?

Obviously. :p

He should be looked at as strictly insurance if Austin decides not to take a pay cut and is released.
So, we would be swapping Miles Austin for another "Miles Austin?" I'm not real comfortable with that scenario. Just when I was finally ready to get over seeing Austin pacing the sidelines... :)

If really cheap, he's worth a look

It all depends on the cost. If it's 1/4 of Austin's cap hit, it's worth the risk.

I didn't say I liked the idea of swapping Miles (Rice) for Miles but the Cowboys would need a quality backup in case one of the starters goes down. :D

Nothing against Harris or Beasley and but neither are starting material. Personally, I think Miles takes the pay cut and stays on as a backup insurance policy.

Cheap is a valid bargaining chip. My thing is actual production. Rice may prove me wrong if we signed him, but I'm getting the same Austin vibe.
