there should be a pretty good WR available in rd 4 this year that can function as a #3

Not a big fan of Rice, but we could get him for cheap with an incentives contract.
Considering Austin might be gone, Rice could provide a good #2 if healthy.

The problem is Beasly cant play the outside, so if Dez or Twill get hurt then we are screwed if all we got is Beasly.

We need another WR that can play on the outside.

Austin is likely gone come June 1st, we're going to need another outside WR. It's not that I'm infatuated with familiar names, it's the fact that we could probably get him cheap.

No one is going to offer Rice a big contract after proving he's not a #1 in Seattle. With his injury history, it's likely he'll only get 1 year offers. Like someone said earlier, Rice is a good #2 or #3 and that's exactly what we need if Austin leaves. Sign him to a 1 or 2 year contract and it gives us another 2 drafts to get another WR instead of spending a draft pick this year in a draft deep with good defensive players (which is a much bigger need).

Beides, Linehan would like to have another big WR. Rice is nothing like Megatron, but he would provide similar play in the red zone and can be a good possession WR.
