It's a blessing in disguise. STL signs Melton and we trade up to get Clowney.

You need to shower and wipe that pixie dust from your eyes....

You would have to give our 1st, 2nd and 4th this year and our 1st next year just to get close...
Just can't keep doing stupid draft mistakes and build a winner...

I am not very disappointed that he left to be honest. I highly doubt that Ben Bass is the answer either. Good back-up.

We need to go DL heavy this draft and bring in a bus load of FA DL after the draft as well.

Marinelli should have the best outlook on Melton's worth and maybe he didn't think he was worth what he was asking, whatever that may be.

Bye bye. The bartenders in Dallas can now rest easy.

When was the last time we drafted a guy who was a superstar/gamechanger the moment he stepped on the field? Much less a group of them. Expecting us to get multiple starters in one year from the draft is foolish. Guys like Dez Bryant, Sean Lee, and Tyron Smith took a couple of years to get it together.

Not enough # 69 Jerseys to go around. Say Hello to Jared Allen.

Dez Bryant was definitely a game changer the moment he stepped on the field. Not necessarily as a starting WR but as a return guy and that cant be understated.

I do agree that it will be hard to find multiple starters in the draft

Marinelli knows. He can just look at defensive lineman and tell instantly if they are going to be a perfect fit. Look at what he left behind in Chicago.

I want to sign Melton, but not if his price is super high. The guys just got in a bar fight and bit a guy. I still think its funny that people here complain about not signing a player, but then immediately talk about how we don't have any players and we let him get away. You can't have it both ways. I would rather sign Jarred Allen to a 2/12 mil contract and utilize him and a draft pick.

Does taking recruits to The Mansion count against the salary cap? If Paul Allen takes a free agent out on one of his many yachts, does the value of the trip also hit the cap?

The guy or guys don't need to be superstars in their first season but getting a couple quality contributors that can hold their own is not too much to ask.

Keep on dreamin' he's not signing with us either unless Jerry is will to pony up DWare money that he got from Denver.
These agents aren't stupid. He will get his price from someone but probably not us.

Depends on your definition of "quality contributor". Bryant, Lee and Smith, our current superstars were probably only "quality contributors" in their rookie year. They took time to develop.

The DL situation is absolutely dire. You can throw everything in the draft at it and you might get just "quality contributors" at best. We are not picking the top end or maybe not even the top defensive tackle available.

I am not a big draft guy, but from what I have seen, this draft class only has a couple of elite passrushers, and they will most likely be gone by the time we pick. We have to hit on multiple picks to even field a competitive defense, and that depends on a lot of luck. You don't go into the season with your plan being that you hope some guy falls to you.

How about someone like a Frederick.

Anyone think it could be the Cowboys doctors took a look and didn't like what they saw?

Well at this point we really don't have much of an option. It is what it is. We can't afford to bring in a bunch of talent and have any chance of getting our current decent players signed in the coming years. Our hands are tied.

Like I have said many times - last year might have just been a preview of an even more record breaking effort by this D this year. No doubt we will be weaker up front and that was the Achilles heal last year. Plus, we have shown no ability to blitz with any consistency. We could be in for a long ride I'm afraid.

Rare example.

Just take a look at the DE/DTs drafted high the last three years. See anyone with similar Frederick like success? The closest were Aldon Smith and J.J. Watt several years ago. The rest are all in various stages of development. We need at least one high quality starter on this line and that is not on this roster right now, nor will be likely arriving in early May.
