Sounds to me like he just doesn't want to play for Dallas, no matter the offer.
Clarence was the same guy that said it wasn't looking good for the Cowboys that the hometown kid was leaving without a contract. I'm convinced now that these guys have no clue what's going on. I bet I wake up in the morning and Allen is signed too.
I can see us going with Spencer or Corey Wooten with the leftover $ to play the LDE spot. There are plenty of options there though, including Crawford, Mincey, and plenty of potential draft picks.
If Allan signs I think the Cowboys target Pryor.
If Allen isn't in Seattle next season I'll be shocked. Perfect place for him to finish his career. He can be a situational pass rusher and just pin his ears back. They fit his personality perfectly. They are Superbowl favorites. They also have more free cap space at the moment. It just makes too much sense.
He doesn't fit the rebuild anyway.
Except Allen specifically said he does not want to be a situational player at this juncture of his career. He'd rather retire than accept that role. And I believe that is exactly the role being offered him in Seattle. He can be the focal point of the D in Dallas. I am still holding out hope. Allen would add an edge to this D, Jerry needs to see that is exactly the kind of leader/playmaker that the Cowboys have lacked.
If we really want Allen, I don't see how we don't match or top Seattle's pathetic one-year, $4 million offer.
