Good grief. Was Jerry supposed to open his checkbook and give Allen whatever he wanted? There is a reason Allen is talking retirement.

There was no pass rush when last year Ware was here either. Allen is a great talent, but an old talent. If he is supposed to be the Romo of the defense then maybe he'd be worth the money, but if he's the Dez of the defence then I say get someone younger and more long term and in this FA period, there has been no "Dez" pass rusher.

So draft one cross our fingers and hope.

Time to get younger.

That's a crazy amount to ask for. I wanted him to be a Cowboy. Time to move on.

Seattle probably has the advantage if the money's even because he'd be joining a championship team. Of course, Dallas has the tax thing.

Seattle has the "tax thing" as well. 7 states have no state income tax. Of those, Texas, Florida, and Washington are the only ones that have NFL teams. I have often wondered if agents use that when negotiating contracts with teams, and when playing one team against another. Disregarding federal taxes, a 10 million per year contract in Texas, Florida, or Washington, is about 9.54 in Denver.

Why Ware at that price but not him?

Not saying I disagree with you.

in his eyes thats how hes looking at it and he should. his #s stack up against ware and the past 3 years has been better than ware. but the broncos over paid ware and set the market for allen to high. i get why they did but they did over pay for ware.

btw what was peppers contract? i cant remember what it was but i dont remember it being 10 mil a year

He only has himself to blame, he had first crack at Denver before Ware ever visited...he couldve had Wares contract most likely...though he may still get it from someone that isnt a contender with money available...

If Peppers got 8.5 guaranteed in 2014, I'd think someone would be willing to pay Allen that as well.

Not that many teams in the market for aging defensive ends working themselves into new systems.

I'd tell Jared Allen that I'd give him the exact same deal Peppers got, and if he takes it he takes it, if he doesn't he doesn't.
