I haven't watched CBS after the 10 PM news in years because I could not stand Letterman. I have always thought Letterman was terrible without a funny bone in his body. To me there is nothing worse than a man who thinks he is funny but isn't. I am not a huge Colbert fan either but he would almost have to be better than Letterman. I think John Stewart would have been a much better choice.

I haven't watched CBS after the 10 PM news in years because I could not stand Letterman. I have always thought Letterman was terrible without a funny bone in his body. To me there is nothing worse than a man who thinks he is funny but isn't.

Never cared for Letterman either, .. he just seems like a hired birthday clown. Really not that funny at all, but he was stupid funny, and not intelligent funny.

Plus he cheated on his wife and family, so for me, .. there is that.

For the sake of his comedic genius, I'm glad he did not sell out and go mainstream. He is just the antithesis of mainstream comedy. Did you see his spoof episdoe of the late night wars with Seinfeld, Chris Rock, etc? Great episode and insight into the cutthroat nature of landing nightime talk show gigs.

By far the best comedian performing stand-up today.

I'll disagree here. Jim Gaffigan is the best performing stand up right now. He went private and has a wonderful offering of $5 direct on his website for his stuff.
