I was listening to Mike and Mike on my way to work and they said that we are interested in these 2 guys.

Werder, I believe, is the one reporting it to them.

Evidently there is interest on both sides with the Cowboys and Urlacher as well.

Urlacher is done as a player. I would hope we don't go there.

Dude was done a couple/few years ago. You don't get any older, fatter or slower in the NFL world.

I would take his psyche tho and sprinkle it around the locker room.

If I was going to take a chance on any of the guys mentioned, it would be after the season started. As for Ed Reed...maybe look at him if you see a lot of the LBs tipping passes. Without that, the guy would have been worthless in his prime.

Agree but maybe being off for a year could put a little juice back in his legs.

I think the Cowboys would just want his leadership and knowledge of the defense to get guys lined up right.

If Werder said it, then you know it's not true.

Eh. Seems like a waste of time to me. Both of these guys are beyond done at this point. I don't see the need to bring them in and take valuable time away from the younger guys.

Live and die with what you've got so that you can see what you've got.

Ed Reed is like Brian Waters he will sign but he does not want to go through TC, and if you make him he gets "nicked" up so he spends time watching. If we were 1 solid safety away from a SB MAYBE, but he does not play assignment football well and tends to free lance A LOT.

I have the same opinion about Ernie Sims really. Wait tell cuts and go get you a LB'er.

I have no issue bringing either of these guys in to let them compete for a spot. What I would have an issue with is seeing either of these guys viewed as the fix for the Sean Lee injury. If either were brought in to be anything more than a situational player we are in trouble.

Yes, don't need any progress stoppers at this point. Well, not at any point. But see who can step up, not only until Lee returns, but also long term if need be.
Get vet help later if even only for depth, if need be. Which won't say much for all the LB's on roster now, unless they feel they just aren't ready to start, need another year.

Mike LB is NOT disproportionately important in the scheme

You must have progress to stop in order for someone to be a progress stopper. There is no progress at middle linebacker right now. A fourth-round pick Dallas drafted to be Lee's backup is in line to be the starter.

I have absolutely no problem with Dallas going with a stopgap to fill Lee's shoes for this season. He wouldn't be knocking anyone off the roster who deserves to be there.
