Romo or Dez?

Romo .... Romo doesn't need a great WR to perform well, he's always made mediocre WRs look good. Not saying this is the case with Dez, but Romo wouldn't suffer that much without Dez. Where you'd really see our numbers suffer is the Red Zone, but if we ran the ball properly then that'd off set the lose of Dez some in that regard. I think with Romo(without Dez), we'd finish 7-9 against the current schedule we got. With Orton and Dez, I think we're good for 4-12 (Jac/Stl/Ten/Division) and maybe 5-6 wins if our defense is better and we stay in games and run the ball.

And the stats back up that Orton can't win when a defense allows 20+ points or so in a game. I can't remember it exactly, but last year I do remember they showed Kyle Orton's win % in games where his defense gives up 20 or so points, and it was really terrible. If he started right now for us, he'd have to deal with that every game and then some.

Franchise QB > Average QB + Great WR

Your formula works but Romo isn't a franchise QB. He is 34 and has 1 playoff win.

So what qualifies you as a franchise QB? Having a stellar defense and coach? And age has nothing to do with whether he's a franchise QB or not.

Dez, definitely. With Romo, we're 8-8, without him, we're 4-12 and can finally start re-building, and draft a real QB next year.

yep, lets go pick a qb off the qb tree..great idea.
dumb question anyway since they.ll both be here for the foreseeable future

Always an excuse for Romo beating us. We had a good defense and a better coach when Minnesota pounded us in the playoffs. I define franchise QB's as successful in the big time. Off the top of my head..

Brady
P. Manning
E. Manning
Rodgers
Brees
Flacco
Kaepernick
Wilson
Roethlisberger

I would even take Foles, Newton, and Luck too.

Romo would belong with the likes of Cutler, Ryan, and Smith as good but replaceable. The fact we are paying him 100 million makes me sick. We could have drafted a difference maker in Manziel if weren't strapped with that idiotic contract.

Probably Romo.

Orton and Dez dont have a really good chemistry you could tell in that Eagles game he didnt know where Dez likes the ball, if Romo played that game Dez wouldve had at least 150+ yards

I think I'd pick Romo, but with regards to the 4th quarter win thing...Tebow Time. Its nice to have someone that can win at the end, its better to just not have the game on the line at the end. I'd rather have neither Dez nor Romo and just have the best O and D lines in the league.

Did you just compare Tebow and Romo?

Please go sit in the corner.

I think we just became best friends.

Dez and it isn't even remotely close. With that said the result would probably be the same either way. 8-8 or worse.

What happened last time Romo went down? 1-6 record with Romo and 5-4 record with Kitna.

On the Break, they had an interesting question. Would you rather have Romo or Dez this season, assuming Orton is back.

Orton
Dez
Williams

Romo
Williams
Street

That really is a great question, because it depends on what you are more interested in: winning in the short run or the long run. Me personally, as crazy as it may sounds, I'd rather keep Dez, to stay young as a team. I realize that we might suffer in the immediate future, but as a result, it would put the Cowboys in a better position to replace Orton in the draft with a higher draft pick. And please, pretty please, if anyone wants to debate this with me, I'll be more than happy to, so long as you don't bring the "Loser Mentality" argument up. If you do so, I'll realize the potential up front that I may be arguing with an idiot and I really don't want the other viewers of the debate to have to figure out who the stupid one is.

Just look up who were the receivers on past superbwl winning teams after say 96, the Colts had Harrison ad Waye, the Rams had Bruce and Holt. Outside of that maaaaybe the Saints had the best WRs. So does a team need the best WR to win? You could also look at QBs but they are far far better.

As much as I adore Dez, and I mean I really like Dez a ton--give me Romo. Romo makes this offense. Like any team without it's star QB, the offense can become somewhat pedestrian. We need Tony to orchestrate Linehan's X's and O's

The top 10ish QB wins this argument every time over a top 5ish WR. There are cases where a backup QB unexpectedly plays well for a stretch but you can never count on that beforehand...

Yeah, but you have to have a Super Bowl caliber QB to win a Super Bowl, we don't have one yet.

Not every QB who has won a Super Bowl was Super Bowl caliber. I'm not saying Romo is or isn't, but your statement is not true.
