Romo or Dez?

Compared with others in the league, Dez is probably a higher ranked WR than Romo is a QB. But you always take the QB.

Romo.

He's your franchise QB and he gets production out of the WR's they give him no matter who they are. Dez is a special talent, for sure, but if I had to choose between to two I'd take a healthy Romo for sure.

Dez bc Romo is an uncertainty to be 100% (wasn't last season = deep ball ducks) Orton could get us into the playoffs with this line, Murray, and weapons on the outside. He's not THAT drunk:D

Yeah I was nit-picking. Frustration over the state of our squad has set in for me.

I can understand the frustration over the state of the squad but it's been proven in here by Percy that no Super Bowl winning QB in the last ten years could win withe the defensive ratings we've put up.

Think about this -- Tom Brady has thrown 3 INTs in TWO separate AFC Championship games and WON them both. Funny how the state of the squad can pull their weight and come through for your QB once in a while.

Secondly, Matty Ice had two 13-3 teams enter the playoffs and he's never won yet you never hear his name brought up..

The criticism of Romo comes with the position and is warranted in some cases. He'd tell you that. But some of our fan base thinks that it's a given our QBs will automatically win big games and Super Bowls because of the lineage, because there's a the star on their helmet. Considering the cess pool we had after Aikman and before Tony you would think fans would understand that. Get ready -- We could go through ten more QBs in the next 30 years and not win a thing.

Finally -- I must've missed where it said Romo's career is written. Last time I checked he's on the roster and probably for the next five years. Maybe not this year but I fully expect us to go deep on the playoffs in the next few years and if we do it will be because of Romo - not in spite of him.

The defensive ratings can be changed by a super bowl winning QB so effectively saying no QB could win with this defense doesn't hold water.

I think he means literally defensive quarterback rating, not other metrics.

Take either Romo or Dez out of the picture for the Cowboys and the season is ka-put. Wouldn't want to see either of them MIA.

Dez is an great WR, but it's easily Romo. Franchise QB takes precedence over a WR and Romo seems to click with just about any receiver.

True. Except that piece of crap Roy Williams. Man, that trade was SO horrific on every level. Draft picks, salary cap, player's lack of ability and poor character. Just...everything.

What you said is true though, Romo has a way of turning nobodies into somebodies. If the receiver is on the same page as Romo, and they're open, there's a good chance he'll get them the ball.

Dez, definitely. With Romo, we're 8-8, without him, we're 4-12 and can finally start re-building, and draft a real QB next year.

Again, there is no guarantee a high pick makes us good or better.
Claiborne was pretty high.

The difference between making the playoff and not making the playoffs will be determinded by the defense not the offense.

Very true, I was wrongly relating Orton's success in the final game to the whole season in which we were in the position to make the playoffs, etc. But you are 100% correct in that I was wrongly attributing Romo's success in getting the team to that point (esp considering the comeback against WAS the week before) and relating it to Orton. Romo is my guy, don't get me wrong;) If he cannot throw the deep ball with the success he has displayed prior to 2013, I would take Dez this season for the mere reason that it is time to draft the next QB in 15. Just trying to make lemonade over here...

Very true, esp with the team doing well the last 4/5 drafts (still like Claiborne); but All Pro "specimens" like Tyron wouldn't have been available to us. Team did a great job scooping Dez late and finding Martin/Fred mid-late. But for the QB argument, I would agree that I want the highest pick possible so DAL isn't in a ransom situation to trade up, etc.
