Anthony Davis soon to be best player in the NBA

With all this basketball free agency talk, it had me thinking about NBA rosters next year. One guy who I keep forgetting about who might already be the 3rd best player in the NBA is New Orleans Pelicans' Anthony Davis, a.k.a. 'The Brow.'

He's already putting up Kevin Love-esque numbers but, unlike Love, he's actually better than his numbers indicate. I think Love is a good player but not nearly as good as his stat line. Davis, on the other hand, might be the best defender in the NBA and has the potential to improve his offensive game considerably.

Anyway, I just wanted to see what people thought of this guy. I think he's already one of the most all-around players in the NBA and is only getting better. He might surpass Durant this year or next and then it's only a matter of time before he surpasses LeBron.

This guy was a PG before growing 10 inches in 2 years and learning how to play center at Kentucky. He's already a 3 blocks, 1.5 steals, 21 points, 10 rebounds per game guy at only 21 years old. He can also shoot, drive to the hole, play the post, and run the pick-and-roll. I see this guy's ceiling being Kevin Garnett on steroids.

And, for the record, I wouldn't trade this guy for anybody. He's already better than all the young guys in the NBA (18-23) and has more upside than any of them, including Wiggens. He's only 21 and, I think, has a higher ceiling than even the 25 year old Kevin Durant. And, even though he'll probably never be as good as LeBron in his prime, I wouldn't trade him at 21 for LeBron at 29.

No one notices him playing in New Orleans, but yes he's a good player. I'll still take Lebron over him.

...sigh.....I really wanted to see him end up on the Wizards paired with John Wall. Guess the NBA really wanted Benson to buy New Orleans......

I think KD will be the best player in the league first, but ya that won't last very long. Kind of like Kobe, he was only the best player in the league for a few years sandwiched between TD and lebron. In 5 or 6 years, unless some insane talent comes in, the brow will be the best player in the league

Nobody will be the best player until LeBron declines, but he definitely has Garnett-level potential.

Lots of good 4's/stretch-4's in the league right now on the way up. Nerlens Noel looks like a player in the summer league, Davis has a ridiculous ceiling, DeAndre Jordan and LaMarcus Aldridge are both great players, among others.

If Joel Embiid ends up being a good player as well, we'll have a lot of good PFs/C's in the league in the future for the next decade.

I don't think any of those guys are stretch 4's. To my knowledge, a stretch 4 is someone with the size to play the 4 but the athletic and shooting ability of a 2 or 3. So they essentially "stretch" the court with this ability. Ideal stretch 4's are guys like Kevin Love, Chris Bosh, and even Dirk. Most stretch 4's don't tend to be strong low post players or interior defenders/shot blockers. The guys you listed are pretty much centers in the current NBA.

What makes Davis special is that he is a stretch 4 but he is also a true center. There's nobody like him in the league. Offensively, he plays like a 2 or 3 and can stretch the court, but defensively, he can plug the post and shut down his man. He's really amazing. And he's only getting better. His offense improves faster than anyone's in the NBA, and he'll be able to shut down any center once he adds some muscle. The guy is other-worldly.

I'm not sure if Anthony Davis has Garnett-level potential, just because I'm not sure if the ball handling and assist numbers will ever come close.

AD is very talented, It's possible.
The World Cup maybe where we see his next jump.
And if New Orleans keep it up, he won't be there after next year.
