Schram and Landry made a point of getting rid of troublemakers like Lance Rentzel, Hollywood Henderson, Clint Longley, etc.
Jerry Jones did what he could to cover for his star players. He was instrumental in getting many things swept under the carpet.
Yeah you would be wrong Hollywood Henderson played for the Cowboys all five years from day one when he was drafted he was partying and doing drugs he wasn't allowed to walk and they were till they were done with him he played here five years he was on 3 Super Bowl teams it's kind of funny only when his play started tailing off that's when Landry allowed him to leave and he played three more years in the league by the way yeah the man had a history he went to prison but this man was known to be partying and doing drugs all the time from the day he showed up wearing a fur fur training camp that's where he got the name Hollywood Henderson from that moment landry let him play for five years turning a blind eye to all of it trust me they all do it if you're that good Bill Parr's cells did it with other players but also the biggest name would be Lawrence Taylor they don't cut those dudes they don't make an example out of them just like Michael Irvin and little group he hung around with during the White House days they did not get cup they were not made an example of that is what BMOC means is started in college but players like this are coddled and it doesn't matter what they do as long as they're playing well they'll be on a football team including Tom Landry Bill Parcells and Jimmy Johnson trust me it happens it's been happening..
Try to make sure you understand how wrong you are I can look up the other guys but I knew that he played here 5 years and it wasn't till his play started being suspect that he was allowed to walk that's funny how you somehow thought it was because of the drugs and the partying and no they overlooked that while he's playing well but when he stops playing well then they said you know what we're tired of it
Those would be hypocrites they allowed them to do whatever he wanted until his play suffered....
BTW Late Longley was a backup quarterback that only played one year here didn't go along with Roger Staubach got in a fight with Roger and was sent packing if that was Roger Staubach who was the bigger problem , the instigator, he still would have played for the Cowboys had not been cut you do see the difference right?.
So show me the player that sucker punched or beat up our starting quarterback I don't remember anyone ever threatening Romo or Prescott not in a physical manner because I believe they would have been off this team just as fast if they were just simply the backup trust me you don't think that Milton went and sucker punched Prescott he wouldn't be gone the next day???
OH MY Look I had no idea about some of this but you guys memories are flawed absolutely tom Landry would have been fired had this happen in this day and age in the NFL he allowed Lance Renzel to stay on this team from 1966 through 1971 before he was traded with allegations of sexual misconduct with children like Exposing himself to girls. I mean read this story it was a fact they tried to cover up the 1966 incident he remained on this team you're telling me Landry had no idea about that and then when it came up in 1970 and he pled guilty he remained on this team the rest of that year and it wasn't till the next offseason that he was traded only because it didn't look like he was going to play much and not play well anymore but if this NFL and this today in about he would not be in the NFL he would immediately been suspended for life if he did this and yet he was still on the Dallas Cowboys with bum bright text ram and Tom Landry allowed this guy to be on this team show me where this happened with the Dallas Cowboys and Jerry Jones show me where Jerry Jones allowed any of this?
But somehow guys like Dez Bryant George Pickens and To's are being lumped in with guys doing cocaine on regualr basis in games, and exposing themselves to young women are you serious like where do you get this stuff?
.In
1970, Rentzel was leading the team in receiving yards, when he was arrested for
exposing himself to a 10-year-old girl.
[15] At the time the accusation was made, the press revealed a nearly forgotten incident that happened when Rentzel was charged with
exposing himself to two young girls in
St. Paul in September 1966, and pleaded guilty to the reduced charge of disorderly conduct.
[16] He was not sentenced to jail, but merely ordered to seek psychiatric care.
[17] Because of the nationwide reaction and publicity from the scandal, Rentzel's wife, singer and actress
Joey Heatherton, divorced him shortly thereafter.
[18] Rentzel asked the Cowboys to place him on the inactive list so he could devote his time to settling his personal affairs.
[19] Rentzel missed the last three games of the regular season, including the Cowboys' playoff drive to its narrow
Super Bowl V loss to the
Baltimore Colts. Rentzel finished the 1970 season with 28 receptions (second on the team) for 556 yards (second on the team) and five
touchdowns.
