“The point is, the structure and the stability of the franchise can be impacted by death or a changing of the guard,’’ the 71-year old owner said earlier this year leading up to the 25th anniversary of his purchase of the Cowboys. “This has wounded other franchises.
“Our plan, frankly, I’ve had this plan since I bought the team. What I didn’t know was how effective these people were going to be and how focused and interested they were going to be in the ensuing years.’’
Stephen Jones is the chief operating officer and executive vice president. Charlotte Jones Anderson is an executive vice president and chief brand officer. Jerry Jones Jr. is an executive vice president and chief sales and marketing officer.
“I can tell you they have made it their lives,’’ Jones said. “We have other things and manage other things, but everything else is secondary.
“Sitting here 25 years later, it would have to go down as a highlight, our working relationship. Anyone who knows family relationships knows that working together does not necessarily work out, especially between siblings. I’m very proud of the fact that publicly and privately, I have people say the thing that impresses them most about me is my family.’’
So what is the succession plan? Jones laughed.
“There is enough to go around,’’ he said.

Wonderful.

Can't wait to see the tear down of this, and over being over analyzed...LOL

Basically, nothing has nor will change with this structure. But at least we seen will McClay basically stepping in and doing some GM duties with player acquisitions.
That is the most important issue.

I don't see the Jones Family ever selling the team. With some smart financial planning, the big tax hits can be avoided when JJ passes. Pro sports team ownership is something even the 1% can't just go out and buy and a team like the Cowboys is one of the top prizes.

Jerry has made it clear in recent past when he steps down or passes away his family will continue to run and operate the Dallas Cowboys. Likely that means Stephen Jones will take the lead role.

Wonderful.

Never die, suck the life out of his grandchildren (ala the film Skeleton Key with Kate Hudson - Yumm) and continue to ruin...opps...run this organization.

This is Jerry's plan on running the Boys.

Steel cage match. Stephen versus Charlotte.

It will be over when Stephen fails to hit on his finisher and taps out to the submission move know as "Charlotte's Web".

This is no secret. The Jones family is firmly entrenched for years to come.

Just look at the draft cam. It needs a wide lens before you can even see any real football people.

Spalding even wore a shirt and tie for the draft. He's getting ready. I expect he'll get an executive position once he graduates from college.

I think Spaulding enrolls at the University of Arkansas this upcoming year.

I expect him to be Chief Executive Officer of Brand Management or whatever immediately upon graduation, even if he walks with a degree in basket weaving.
