Moore: What Is Jerry Jones Succession Plan With Cowboys

That's the head of our football operations right there. The guys who make all the decisions on coaches and personnel.

If it wasn't so sad I wouldn't be able to stop laughing.

This is no secret. The Jones family is firmly entrenched for years to come.

Just look at the draft cam. It needs a wide lens before you can even see any real football people.

Spalding even wore a shirt and tie for the draft. He's getting ready. I expect he'll get an executive position once he graduates from college.

Here is your GM mind hive:

Jerry is drunk at 11am again.
Stephen is drubnk at 11am again.
Charlotte is bitter that Jason's shoes cost more than hers.
Spaulding is watching porn on his iPhone,

What joke…its like looking into a clown car, not pretty even with the most ironic view point.

Yeah! Because everyone knows Jimmy Johnson hired himself!

You intentionally ignored the 20 years since that owner ran off Johnson and demanding me to kiss his butt for what he's done since. People like you have prompted me to join another NFL forum - I won't be the last one you run off. Yankee fans are infamous for demanding management do their job - why should it be different for the Cowboys?

No way. McClay is in the shadows as the real rain maker.

Besides, it's not like Jerry scoured the coaching ranks and unearthed Jimmy Johnson. He hired his college roommate. His buddy. It was the same hiring process that begot Barry Switzer.

If that's all you got to defend the biggest enemy to this franchise in it's history, you got nothing.

If Jerry knew what he was doing when he hired Jimmy... why has he failed so miserably since?

Jerry hired a friend who happened to be a football coach when he hired Jimmy. IOW... he got lucky.

That's not the point at all. If there's no Jerry, there's no Jimmy in Dallas. That is 100% undisputable.

So if you want to go back in time and keep Jerry from buying the team, you'd better be willing to also do without the Jimmy years and those 3 Super Bowl wins.

Sorry to interrupt the Jerry Hate Fest with a dose of reality.

I didn't ignore anything but it's good to know I had such an effect on you. Enjoy your new forum and don't feel obligated to ever come back!

Can't wait to see the tear down of this, and over being over analyzed...LOL

Basically, nothing has nor will change with this structure. But at least we seen will McClay basically stepping in and doing some GM duties with player acquisitions.
That is the most important issue.

Bottom line is that despite what the haters say, Will McClay is the defacto GM and had out his stamp on the team and if you can't see that.....

........ there may be hope for you yet

Jerry has made it clear in recent past when he steps down or passes away his family will continue to run and operate the Dallas Cowboys. Likely that means Stephen Jones will take the lead role.

Why don't you just shoot the few remaining sane cowboy fans (aka haters) while you're at it

Maybe another owner buys the team, wins the coaching lottery once, and then doesn't proceed to bury the franchise in ego-fueled mediocrity for 20 years. As has been mentioned, it's not like finding Jimmy was some exhaustive search that only Jerry could have pulled off, he hired his drinking buddy.

And you could make the argument that Jerry was also 100% the reason Jimmy left before winning several more rings with the team. Have any other owners in the history of the league chased off winning coaches because they couldn't stand sharing the spotlight?

p.s. I bet there are a whole lotta 20-something year old fans with little or no memory of those Superbowls who would gladly take you up on your world-without-Jerry offer.

"Hey, let's draft a cornerback in the first round just to troll Risen Star."

Not indisputable at all, Schramm was a Jimmy admirer before the team was sold and who he had in mind if they could talk Landry into retiring so I'm sure he would of been the recommendation to whoever bought the team. Would he still have ended up here maybe/maybe not but it was a possibility

I'd have more faith in him finding a suitable replacement than Jerry. Jimmy's been gone for over 20 years and he hasn't found one yet.

But because we loved those SB rings, we should be satisfied. That's what Jerry keeps telling us.

Haha, yeah "maybe". Or "maybe" we'd end up being like one of the 29 teams that HAVEN'T won 3 Super Bowls since 1989!

It's always hilarious to me how entitled some Cowboys fans feel. The Cowboys, Giants and Patriots have won 3 rings since 1989. That's it. Everyone else has won 2 or less. But by all means, keep acting like we're the Cardinals or Lions. I'm sure you can find a stupid stat like "playoff wins since __" to keep feeling sorry for yourselves.

Interesting, I didn't know that. Nonetheless, Jerry DID hire Jimmy and we DID win 3 Super Bowls.

I wouldn't trade that for the pipe-dream possibility of being MORE successful if Jerry never bought the team.
