Did you see C.J. Mosley and Timmy Jernigan tonight?

It's pretty clear that trading up for players hasn't worked out over the years for defensive players. Common sense will tell you that you have a higher chance of drafting an NFL player when you have more picks.

i am not saying you are sillly but i will say suggesting they didn't draft defensive players when they drafted 7 is pretty silly.
they drafted 2 offensive players and 7 defensive players for cripes sake.

Yeah, all of those seventh rounders are really going to turn things around, aren't they?

Ozzie always seems to pick great players.

This is why if I'm the GM I take a look at whoever does not make their roster each year. Some of their castoffs may be better than what we've got at certain positions.

Yea, Russell Maryland was pretty shabby when he first started...

I am not talking about middle and late round players.and you know it. im talking about taking defensive players in the first, second and third round.not a buch of 4th and 7th rounders. getting Lewerence in the 2nd round was not enough.

Yes, bringing up a trade from 23 years ago when we had 3 first round picks and 8 top 100 picks seems pretty relevant.

ROFL at your name after reading this nonsense.
Dallas made 9 picks total, 7 were defensive.
They used one pick in the top 4 rounds on offense.
ONE PICK.

Feel free to appeal to the NFL to give them 9 high draft picks if it makes you feel better but they can only draft what they have alloted to them. .

I said then I would have traded down and targeted DL help instead of taking Zach Martin but arguing they ignored defense when they drafted 7 guys is really just stupid.

So wait. ALl it takes is to show up in the 1st preseason game and that's it? Already rueing the day? LOL. I guess Weeden is in the Ring of Honor now.

This is ridiculous. Fact is, we went form having a good offensive line to having what we believe is a GREAT offensive line. They had a solid draft. Only thing you can really question is trading up for Lawrence. I still have no problem with it but a argument can be made that we needed that 3rd round pick.

you arent talking about anything.
you are crying pointlessly with no data at all to back you up.
just stick with the defense sucks... at least then you wouldn't be talking nonsense.

in 2012 they used the top 4 picks ALL on defense.
in 2013 they selected 3 defenders, 2 of which started tonight, the 3rd played as a back up.
in 2014 they selected 7 defenders, including 2 of the first 3 picks. they didn't have a 3rd rounder because they used it to trade up for another defender in very high round 2. --- it is almost impossible to reek of desperation more than to draft 7 guys on one side of the ball.

they've named 3 defensive coordinators in 3 years.

the biggest off-season signing not already on the team was a DL.
2nd biggest "" was on the DL.

It's because defense does not sell tickets. Dallas is all about stats and showing off the offense. Even when we lose it's entertaining. I'd rather have a boring offense and a great defense. It seems to work with the last few SB winners.

What boring offense does anything in the post season? Did you see the last teams standing? There was no "boring offense". Seahawks I guess is who you are referring to but they sure had a solid offensive line to get there.

You have to shore up your line. Offense or defense. You shouldn't abandoned one or the other. The offensive line seems to be set now.

What? You went into dementia in the mean time. There were trades involved with Dez Bryant, Anthony Spencer, and Claiborne as well. A little tough talk to go along with picture gate so that Jerry is the escape goat as well...sorry, trades have worked both positive and negative.

I recall a trade up for Tony Dorsett...oh, I keep on not focusing on the pics. I guess the pass on the LSU guard would have been alright, but not countered a defensive picture of futility on key...maybe?

Uhh no lol. More picks doesn't equate to more success. You could very well miss out on all of those picks just like we did in 2009. Granted, we didn't have a 1st or 2nd rounder but still. We had a bunch of 3rd and 4th rounders and did nothing with them. Draft the best player on your board. Its worked for them and that's more of the common sense thing to do.

I should have been more clear. I meant more top 100 picks. Obviously a 1st rounder isn't equal to a 7th. We haven't done well sacrificing 2nd+ rounders to trade up lately.

can't say I'm happy with the incremental approach our GM is taking to fix the league's worst defense and a couple more FA defensive players should have been signed,,, but I'm sure as heck not sorry about the Martin pick, they needed that guy.

First of all, I don't believe we even traded up for the Russell Maryland pick, but I am not sure. Secondly, we traded DOWN in the 2008 draft, then traded up a few spots to take Spencer. Not really the same thing. Pretty much the same thing with Dez Bryant.

I will go on record saying that I wish Dallas took Jernigan in the 2nd to go with Melton...because I knew how weak the 2014 draft was for RDE's...however, I'm not gonna cry about the way the draft went or second guess...no time for it and it does no good. I hope this front office and staff values the 1tech more everyday! But.....I'm hopeful that the reconstruction that Garrett has started continues. DL is next up...

Nope, Maryland came in the number one slot, and Dallas had already turned the corner.

He was the first overall pick in the 1991 NFL Draft, by the Dallas Cowboys, after the initial No. 1 prospect Raghib Ismail decided to sign with the Toronto Argonauts.[3] After the New England Patriots failed to sign Ismail, the Cowboys attempted to do so by trading for the first overall pick, sending the Patriots Eugene Lockhart, Ron Francis, David Howard, a 1991 first round pick (#11 Pat Harlow) and a 1991 second round pick (#41 Jerome Henderson).
