Did you see C.J. Mosley and Timmy Jernigan tonight?

We could have had both these guys on defense. Mosley was outstanding tonight. he made plays all over the field. and Jernigan was a man in the middle. 49ers O-Line could not move him tonight.these are 2 defense that we should have taken with our first 2 picks.we are weak up the middle just like we were last year. this defense is pitiful. yet Jerry the GM did nothing to help it this off season. this is my worst nightmare yet again. it's just sad.

Mosley was the guy I wanted but I was told he wouldn't be able to stay healthy at this level

Martin had a pretty good game awell so I'm not losing sleep tonight. Hopefully we draft defense in next years draft. This defense would still be bad with C.J Moesly in it or Terry Jernigan.

That's a terrible point. We know this defense has a ways to go. But adding two pieces now means we're closer to getting this thing fixed than waiting till next year and hoping their draft defense. The fact of the matter is this franchise does not value defense.

I would have loved Jernigan here and I think his going to be a player. We went looking for Dlinemen that had passrushing abilities and not necessarily great at stoping the run. Of course that showed up tonight in a big way.

I'm going along with you and say that this team doesn't really know what to look for when it comes to defense.

It's because defense does not sell tickets. Dallas is all about stats and showing off the offense. Even when we lose it's entertaining. I'd rather have a boring offense and a great defense. It seems to work with the last few SB winners.

You fix your defense by drafting good defensive players. this team had the worst defense in cowboys history. and one of the worst in NFL history. and Jerry and Stephen Jones did nothing to help it. this is the worst defense i have ever seen in my life.

good grief man, the top 3 targets in round 1 were all defensive guys.
when they did go ol because the guy was a ridiculously good value they traded up for defense.
did they "not value defense" when they gave ratliff, ware huge money? when they traded up to 6 for claiborne? when they signed carr to a fortune? when they gave always injured sean lee a huge deal?

the defense sucks and we cant seem to draft anyone that can stay healthy but the team invests plenty of picks and money there.

it only seems they hate defense when they line up someone like Heath and pretend he can play.

I'm not debating if this team values offense over defense. That point has been established with this team's early round draft trends in the past. Saying that, Lawrence was drafted in the 2nd round (same round as Jernigan) so that cancels out. They passed on C.J to take Martin. Maybe they saw Mosley as MLB and didn't want move Lee (who signed a rather large contract recently). Idk.

So let me rephrase, adding Mosley wasn't going to put this defense over the top. Martin looks pretty good to, not losing sleep over Mosley's performance tonight.

You don't stop drafting defense just because you think you screwed up drafting defensive players in the past. that's just stupid. when you have one of the worst defense in team and NFL history. you spend your picks on defense.

On the offensive side of the ball...Smith, Martin, and Frederick will punch you in the mouth.

Bryant, Murray, and Witten will may up work your arse off to match their play...

on the defensive side of the ball...yea, there's a bunch of nice guys.

It's not that hard man. you draft Mosley not because you think he will fix the defense by himself this year. you take him because he is the best defensive player on the board. you keep drafting defense until you have a good defense. and not this pitiful train wreck we have now.

I'm not arguing its a train wreck. I'm just not losing sleep that we passed on a good player to take good player.

Been a fan of this team for many years now. It could have been worse

i am not saying you are sillly but i will say suggesting they didn't draft defensive players when they drafted 7 is pretty silly.
they drafted 2 offensive players and 7 defensive players for cripes sake.
