Oscar winner and comedian Robin Williams died this morning at 63. While his publicist wouldn’t confirm that it was a suicide, they did issue this statement. “Robin Williams passed away this morning. He has been battling severe depression of late. This is a tragic and sudden loss. The family respectfully asks for their privacy as they grieve during this very difficult time.”

He had very severe manic depression. Probably the most obvious case in history among celebs.
That guy was very bright and talented.
So sad.

Veteran film and television comedic actor Robin Williams was found dead on Monday. He was 63.

The cause of death is believed to be suicide via asphyxiation, according to the coroner’s office in Tiburon, Calif. He was found in his home.

His publicist said the actor had been battling depression of late.

“This is a tragic and sudden loss,” his publicist Mara Buxbaum said in a statement. “The family respectfully asks for their privacy as they grieve during this very difficult time.”

Whoa just saw this, sad news, also I thought he was older than that for some reason.

Man :(

Jumanji, Hook, Mrs doubtfire. Three of my favorites growing up.

read it on breaking news about 15 minutes ago...my family is in shock as am i.

too many memories all the way back to mork and mindy to not be devastated by this news.

Asphyxiation most likely means he hung himself. That's what happens when you hang yourself. The drop isn't long enough to break your neck. You just choke to death.

So sad. A tremendous talent and beloved my many including myself. RIP Robin.

I would think the most common or next to that is carbon monoxide suffocation.

Maybe- he also could have sat in his running car in the garage and let the carbon monoxide do the work.

This hurts. What a light for so many.
The man did USO work not quite on par with Bob Hope, but he put a lot of smiles on a lot of sad, scared and lonely faces in those deserts in the Middle East.
His work speaks for itself through the smiles of children who've seen his movies and memories from his outstanding stand up and older shows some of us grew up on.

Of all people- he deserved help for his depression more than most, but life isn't like that. Life is brutal, unyielding and nonstop.
Like someone said above- I was not a huge fan, but recognizing what he did is not a hard thing to appreciate.

May his soul rest in great peace and may all the souls already in Heaven let him know how many lives he affected and all the good he had placed into people's psyches and memories in his tenure on the physical plane.

Salut Robin. All my respect. All my appreciation. All my solace for those you left behind- which really is all of us. We all lost here.

i was just at Target today and i passed by the DVD sections and my eyes just went to Mrs Doubtfire. this was before i knew of his passing. crazy.

RIP

The Survivors
Father's Day
The Birdcage
Mrs. Doubtfire

those are easily my favorite movies with Robin..

now i'm going to have to see Awakenings with him and Deniro..

my oldest son who has great taste in movies told me it is one of his favorites.

Wow!

So sorry to hear of this.

I remember laughing my arse off when he made his debut on "Happy Days".

It goes to show you that fame & fortune aren't always the right combination to make the depressed person happy.

Before that he was on the short lived "The Richard Pryor Show".
