Maybe- he also could have sat in his running car in the garage and let the carbon monoxide do the work.

This hurts. What a light for so many.
The man did USO work not quite on par with Bob Hope, but he put a lot of smiles on a lot of sad, scared and lonely faces in those deserts in the Middle East.
His work speaks for itself through the smiles of children who've seen his movies and memories from his outstanding stand up and older shows some of us grew up on.

Of all people- he deserved help for his depression more than most, but life isn't like that. Life is brutal, unyielding and nonstop.
Like someone said above- I was not a huge fan, but recognizing what he did is not a hard thing to appreciate.

May his soul rest in great peace and may all the souls already in Heaven let him know how many lives he affected and all the good he had placed into people's psyches and memories in his tenure on the physical plane.

Salut Robin. All my respect. All my appreciation. All my solace for those you left behind- which really is all of us. We all lost here.

The majority of stand up idols are deeply depressed (the good ones anyway...wouldn't have that depth otherwise, etc). I hear you big time though (lost a good one) Carlin, Louis CK, Pryor(common theme)

Very sad news. I couldn't believe it when I first saw it last night.

If you have a chance, rent one of his lesser known movies called What Dreams May Come. Released in 1998, it is a visually stunning movie.

This was too funny not to share. I was watching tv this morning & somebody recalled that when Chris Reeve was injured Robin visited him dressed as a Russian proctologist!

The guy just lost the use of his body & his goofball friend made him laugh.

I just love that.

He was my first "favorite actor" as a small child. I was 6 years old when I first started watching Mork and Mindy.

I grew up with the man.

Celebrity deaths usually do not affect me ....... but this is one that saddens me and puts me in a foul mood.

With Cuba Gooding Jr. The movie has been mildly haunting to me.... now its terribly ironic.

Yea, this one hit home just as when John Candy died. Bill Murray and Chevy Chase will have the same impact on me as well. I grew up watching these guys.

wow...slashed his wrists and hung himself with a belt? Holy cow. I wouldn't be surprised if they find an overload of drugs in him as well, or something.

I still miss Chris Farley.

One of the music channels shows old SNL reruns & there is one of Chris playing the heavy set girl in that Wilson Phillips group. I almost peed myself laughing at him dressed as her. Hysterical.

I can't imagine a wife, children, family having to accept that.

Being left to deal with what that all means in their relationship with him.

Moscow on the Hudson is another lesser-known movie of his that is great. It always makes me sad when the other Russian guy doesn't defect.

This just came out of left field and out of nowhere. Please get help if you suffer from depression, mental illness, or addictions, you or a loved one. It is never to be taken lightly. Please seek help. Know the feeling myself, and had a cousin commit suicide five years to the day on Monday.
