Come on!

We had Quincy Carter at QB with Dave Campo at HC and Jerry was all rah rah throughout those seasons.

I'm one to consistently note Jerry's typical tendency to sell and promote this teams annual hype machine but I am finding this current sentiment from him to the players quite refreshing and realistic.

The reality is, any new NFL season is an "up hill battle" for any NFL team. Every game, every practice, every snap and every walk down the hallway to the position meetings and trainers rooms to heal up.

Like Jerry said, there's already been some "up hill battles" and many of this teams players have risen to the occasion.

Examples like Tony Romo and his back. Henry Melton with his knee, Anthony Spencer's ongoing rehab, Ryan Williams, Brandon Carr's mothers death and Amobi Okoyes come back from a coma. There's more examples I can continue on with.

I think Jerry saying this is a positive proclamation and a message that the players on this team have displayed some of the mental make up to persevere throughout a season of "up hill battles" throughout training camp. A season that is now on the horizon of starting and to continue on with persevering as will be needed.

Jerry did not anywhere in this message say we stink and are going to stink. To me he clearly acknowledged the realistic challenges that will lie ahead throughout the season and the character necessarily required to succeed within it.

Huh. When even Jerry is keeping expectations in-check, you know it's going to be a rough year.

Or maybe, he's finally realizing you don't put the cart in front of the horse and historically the players may have unconsciously gained a sense of entitlement from him doing so.

That's my take anyway.

He understands because the evidence is right before you. If you can't see that there's been a problem for nearly 2 decades and continues to be, then there's no hope.

That's my point - even a billionaire can't buy more time with so many failures over the years.

I was asking "why would Jerry care about buying more time"? My point is Jerry doesn't act on outside forces [ fans] I would think
he is insulated from that. I believe Jerry is motivated to win a trophy . The fans have all manner of opinion on the matter but
Jerry is moved by proving himself. I assure you however, if Jerry wants to buy time no matter what you and i will keep right on
watching the tele. I will anyway

there are two statements ,one there's a problem for a long time
this is true
....................,two there will continue to be
this we disagree, the change is right before you are you open to look and see

This is just Jerry wanting to be coach and attempting to 'motivate' his players with a good ol' fashion underdog story.

NOT, Jerry is motivated to BUTT's in the seats....He has admitted on several occasion its about entertainment....its about the show....all he cares about is selling seats ..not football...he could care less if the stadium is filled with Cowboy fans or Rivals.....the bottom line it is about money...he has failed as GM but excels as a business man...and he plays to his strength.... Jerry is building an Business Empire in Dallas....not a championship

Maybe Jerry has come to the realization that Tony is not coming back as good as they had hoped, they'll need to depend on Weeden a lot.

Combine that with a defense that has no continuity and it's a recipe for 5-11 at best.

Plus as I've said every season under Jason we have no team, we have a offense, a defense, but no team.

It was only about 24 hours ago that Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was talking about the “glitz and glamour,” of his team.

(We just kind of assume at this point he's always thinking about ********** too.)
But today, he was singing a different tune, painting a less shiny picture of what might be about to happen to his team.

At the team’s kickoff luncheon (rarely the kind of event that brings realism, much less pessimism), Jones told his players: “our back’s up against the wall.”

You know that we have an uphill battle this year,” Jones said, via Todd Archer of ESPNDallas.com. “And we do have an uphill battle. But most of you had an uphill battle when you came to camp. Most of you did. And some of you have absolutely rose to the occasion.”
