Grid League: Meet the New Sport of Functional Fitness

So it's team crossfit? I guess the race element is cool but the activities in general are lame.

I don't buy for one second that any of this is "functional" or requires elite athleticism. I find the whole notion of a "crossfit athlete" incredibly annoying.

I guess I see it different I think a true athlete possesses strength, speed and agility as opposed to being only strong or only fast.

Yea, a good athlete has them AND can use them all together, reactively. Crossfit doesn't test that. It's singular motions done repetitively. For the most part, you can be a terrible athlete and train yourself to jump onto a box, climb a rope, or deadlift something. There's nothing inherently athletic about anything that crossfitters do.
