Apples and oranges. Ware was let go for money reason. Brent is here for number one we need a player like him (if he's the same) and two because we told Jerry's mother we'd try to help. If he can't cut it then he'll be cut.

No one wanted to see Ware go it was just one of those tough financial decisions that had to be made.

I was against Dallas bringing back Brent before I read the comments made by Jerry Brown's mom. She is supporting him and recognized that both these guys made poor decisions on the night Jerry lost his life. If she can stand by Brent and wish for him to get his life together then I dont see why the Cowboys shouldnt do the same. Hopefully he has matured from this tragedy and can go on to honor his friend's memory.

Is what people say when they do not want to face the reasons behind decisions.

Money had nothing to do with it.

If you want to blame the last two decades for failed front office cap management then sign me up. Otherwise I'll just stay here and have fun.

How many here have driven buzzed or drunk before?

When I was 24, I did it all the time. Was it stupid? Sure. I was in an accident once to because of it. Luckily, nobody got hurt. Does that make me a bad person?

He screwed up.

These guys are young, have money, have fame, and most probably didn't have a pot to piss in growing up. It's a huge adjustment.

Who knows the personal demons he deals with.

Give the kid another chance.

If we are living in a black and white world, then yes, you were a bad person at 24. That doesn't mean you can't change and become a good person.

If the league wants to take a zero tolerance stance on this stuff, I would support their decision. But that is not their policy, and it has never been a Cowboys policy either. Having such a policy would put a team at a disadvantage, it really has to be league wide to work.

I hope he has truly changed. I doubt he will get another chance.

If it doesn't make you a bad person it certainly makes you a stupid one, at least at that time in your life.

There is no excuse for such decisions or behavior. They have cabs everywhere and everyone knows from long before you're ever even able to drink that you should have a DD and no one should drink and drive.

If you choose to ignore all that and do it anyway then at the very least you're a very stupid person.

It's not their policy but it absolutely should be. These decisions are not mistakes, as everyone likes to try and catagorize them as. They're concious decisions to do something very foolish.

What irks me is we released a class human being and future HOF like Ware and we are bending over backwards to save a spot for an average player who let this team down in the worst sort of way.

It's all about money and performance

One thing about driving drunk I actually focus on the road and stay off the phone.

Ware at 40% was still better than that average scrub ....... and by all accounts he was more than willing to take whatever deal they would offer to stay here.

but is that 40% worth the 5-600% salary increase over that scrub?

Budweiser and Miller are top NFL sponsors. The NFL will never take the puritanical response that many here do.

YOu sure like making stuff up. 40% is made up nonsense. Whatever percentage he is at, last year after he was hurt against Detroit, he couldn't beat single blocking on the pass rush.

Ware cannot take on C/OG double teams. Carter when voicing his support for Brent yesterday stated that 'Beastmode' as he affectionately calls him was the only guy on the team that could compete with him in the weight room. He said that he had come back in in good shape.

Brent is going to be on the team and he is going to be on the roster. Deal with it.

No but purging anyone whoever makes a mistake in that regard certainly is.

An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind.

no, it certainly isn't. this is about criminal behavior, not morality.

If the league would implement a zero tolerance policy on criminal behavior, i would applaud. you can make those kinds of mistakes, get your life in order, and still live a nice life, just not a charmed life. Things life being an NFL athlete, president, Judge, etc, etc, have enough interest that we can staff those positions with people that are truly good role models.

You don't have to share my opinion, but you don't get to redefine puritanical while arguing against my opinion.
