Cris Carter Says Witten Not All That

If a skill position player with 9 Pro Bowls and multiple first-team All-Pro selections were to fail to make it into the Hall of Fame after years of eligibility, there would have to be a criminal investigation.

It would literally set a precedent for skill-position players.

Only trolls and dummies like Cris Carter think Witten is not a HOFer.

Trolls have had tough sledding the last few weeks...they need something

It's an old quote, but Bill Belichick pretty much disagrees. And honestly Jason Witten isn't that much less of a player today than he was in 2011. He gets targeted less today, sure, but that's in large part because we have more offensive weapons today than we did in 2011. Particularly Beasley, who's probably taking a lot of Witten's third down looks given how incredible he is at moving the chains. On the flip side, Witten appears (to me at least) to be a much better blocker today than he's ever been in his career.

Nice money quote. Belichick sees things like Romo. Ahh who cares the experts here know better..

Carter must have steered back to his drug taking days when he made such a ridiculous comment we can both guarantee Seattle is not going to look at it that way when Dallas come into CenturyLink on Sunday.

Witten has never been the best TE in any given year but his numbers are just off the charts. And the guy can do everything. He's just not flashy.

I disagree. The year we went 13-3 I believe he was the best TE in the league at that point. I recall a play he ran for 10+ yards with no helmet. If you can compare his stats to a better TE that year, im all ears. I may be wrong but I love me some Witten

ESPN is doing a E:60 special on Witten and Romo provided HIS opinion to Jeremy Schaap.

Also he was asked by Seattle media about Witten.

So let me guess, if we lose at Seattle (like everyone does) it will be Romo's fault for giving HIS opinion about Witten? Is that where this is going?

Just my opinion...

1. This is Seattle week, let's focus on that. I see no benefit to brining this up now.
2. I want to see Witten win a championship more than anyone on the team. That being said, he's not even in the top 5. Romo needs to realize without a championship it's not realistic to compare him or Romo to our past legends.

what a coincidence. just the other day i was thinking in that whey I half: "Cris Carter isn't all that."

The consensus seemed to be that Antonio gates was the best in the league around that time. Gates had one more TD than Witten. And Tony Gonzalez had more yards than Witten that year. He was never the clear cut number 1 tight end in the league. But he's put together a great career. Missing just one game I believe.

I'm sure there's a lot you can teach Romo.

In the meantime I don't think anyone on either team is going to be thinking about this on Sunday lol

Yawn,
This should be a maxim
"When you fear that your TV/radio ratings may dip, yammer BS about a Cowboy. The ensuing hair pulling & jumping about should be good for a momentary ratings bump"

Yammer, rinse, repeat
as needed

...and I'm done with this thread. Not worth any more of my brain cells.

The biggest thing that bothers me about Chris Carter is those eyebrows. They can't be real, can they? I can't hear what he says because I always end up looking at those goofy eyebrows and losing concentration.

Chris Carter?
