Where's all the why did we draft Escobar threads?

This was a pick because of the two TE passing offense they were planning on using as a staple that has essentially been scrapped.
They ran the 2 te set quite a bit against the giants. And a good bit of 3 te sets.

They ran 20 plays with 2 te set and 11 plays with 3 te set. That's 31 plays with at least 2 te.

As I clarified in another post, what I meant by 2 TE 'set' was the 2 TE passing formations which were employed by the Patriots, with Hernandez and Gronkowski.

Having 2 TEs on the ground at the same time, with one being used as an extra blocker does not necessarily qualify. They drafted Escobar before Linehan was even here and they didn't use him in that manner.

The first td to Escobar had 2 te as passing options. Witten ran a curl drawing double coverage and Escobar was wide open in the end zone

I'm not denying it happens now with Linehan. The Patriots were and still running it as their feature offense. Dallas was clearly stating in 2013 that this was going to be their primary offense and why they selected tight-ends so high.

http://espn.go.com/blog/dallas/cowboys/post/_/id/4708264/a-look-at-new-englands-12-personnel

Jerry Jones invoked the New England Patriots when discussing the scheme following the selection of San Diego State tight end Gavin Escobar in the second round. The Cowboys also had Notre Dame’s Tyler Eifert graded as a first-round pick.

Now, it's not, though they employ it. There offense is simply a heavy-dose of play-action, with their WRs as primary targets. I don't think the Cowboys will get anywhere near the numbers of the Patriots TE-sets, because they don't scheme that way.

First that was Jerry speaking and not the coaches. And second, there is nothing in that quote that says they were going to run it just like the patriots do. So your complaint is based on you inferring and assuming something from Jerry speak. So the cowboys r not using the player they way you and others assumed they would which makes it wrong in ur mind.

I guess there is just no pleasing you.

So what Jerry says has nothing to do with the team? He's just lying when he mentions the Patriots two TE scheme alongside the drafting of Escobar? They just drafted a TE in the second-round for kicks sake?

I guess even the Garrett-homer Todd Archer writing it, is making things up.

Maybe there is no pleasing you.

So the word invoked is so vague it can mean any number of things but again you have inferred your own meaning to that word and expected that the cowboys offense would be identical to the patriots.

I remember Garrett saying the 2 TE set allows you to run or pass without changing personel and that is what they liked about it and they wanted Escobar to become a better blocker before giving him more time.

And they did not draft a TE for kicks sake - they drafted a TE because they wanted to run more 2 TE sets. And now they are running 2 TE sets and 3 TE sets.

Which is hardly "scrapping the system" as you stated.

First of all, they have always been running two-tight end sets in the 22 personel every since Garrett has been around.

http://espn.go.com/blog/dallas/cowboys/post/_/id/4685627/cowboys-use-22-personnel-to-perfection

This was in 2011. And last year, everybody was keen to point out the fact that Garrett was predictable in it.

http://www.nbcdfw.com/blogs/blue-st...End-Formations-Are-Predictable-207359191.html

They are using different formations, such as the 11, as Sturm pointed out a lot more. And we are actually, with Linehan, less predictable in our 2 TE sets. Which brings me to what you claim I said. That is not what I said.

What I said was not the 2 TE formation being scrapped, I was referring to the NE type offense of using two TEs, like Hernandez and Gronkowski. We are a team that relies way more on play-action and still run.

So yeah, maybe there is no pleasing you.

Lol. Bumping old threads to stir up arguments.

I'm not the one complaining. I am quite pleased with the cowboys offense and their current use of the players and formations.

And u still seem to think because Jerry invoked the patriots name that the intention of this team was to do exactly what the patriots do. Can't see why you would assume that from the quote you presented.

And why in the world would you think that a football team would announce their specific game plan and intentions publicly.

All I can assume now is that you r just trolling for people to argue with.
