How come no one is talking about him meddling in the game. He clearly is the one that ordered for Romo to be put back in last night. Why risk the potential for a more severe injury to a player which has have a history of back injuries by putting him back in the game. Weeden was not losing ground while he was in. I would have much rather took the risk of losing that game and letting him finish than the risk of having to have to finish the season. Jerry made that call before consulting with Garrett first and that irks me deeply. Let the coaches coach!

Jerry didn't override the medical staff. Garrett would go with the decision of the medical staff and Romo. Jerry was just relaying the message because Jerry likes to be on camera.

What was the point of going to the sideline? All that info could be relayed to the owner's box.

Romo's health/availability matters a whole lot to this team's future. I'm sure he wanted to know how severely Romo was injured (not to mention his $100M investment). I would have done the same and I'll bet you would have too, if you were in his shoes.

Exactly what you said!

On a side note, is it just me, or does it appear JJ is starting to decline faster mentally/physically. Obviously it is something we will all go through if we are blessed to live that long, however, I just remember seeing AL Davis go through that decline and it wasn't good and wondering if we are getting to that point with JJ.

Checking on Romo' s health is one thing, going to the sideline after doing so is another.

Meddling? LOL Garrett is not in the locker room Jerry checked on Romo and let Garrett know what was going on it is no fricken big deal;. It is his team like it or not but in the overall picture this is another post of over blown hatred some have for Jerry it was no big deal. Jerry never told Garrett to play Romo the medical staff and Romo himself was why he re-entered the game

I'm weary of the owner. Would be thrilled if the Jones' clan sold the team. I have just one question, if anyone can answer it affirmatively, then I will stand corrected.

Name ONE owner, other than our glorious one, who gives injury updates to the head coach in the middle of the game.

Just one. I'll wait...................

Basketball, football, hockey, baseball...... just one

We have a dysfunctional organization.

Romo put himself back in. Weeden was doing enough to win, but hindsight is 20/20. Had Weeden floundered everybody would be on Garrett today for not allowing Romo back in. I doubt Jerry had any say so in the decision whatsoever.

this.

once tony was walking under his own power with no apparent broken bones, I knew he would be back in...thats tony.

he tried to throw the ball and play with a broken collar bone (physically impossible)...its what tony does. Jerry had nothing to do with it

I have no issue that Jerry did, He did not tell anyone to play Romo. BP had no issue with having an owner who wanted to win and it was not just about money. Jerry coming from the locker to the sideline to inform Garrett what was happening make no difference to me, no doubt they could have had some flunky do it but then again it only shows me the passion Jerry has for this team.

I noticed that you didn't offer me one other owner in sports who does it. Why do you think that is? Is it just passion? Jerry Jones is an egomaniac. Fact. Due to that he has to feel like he is in control of everything. He cannot be perceived as taking a back seat role (on the football side) in this team. As I say, you are free to be happy with him (or not bothered by him), but for me, the day he is not owner can't come soon enough (and no, before someone says it, that is not a commentary on his health and well being... we are talking about the entertainment industry here, not life and death).

I'm not trying to, I never said Jerry was some run of the mill owner but Jerry going down to the sideline did not affect 1 damn thing. It did not affect one damn thing when he would go to the sideline during 3 out of 4 seasons of winning the SB. Does jerry have an ego? Yes, never said he didn't.

I do see many owners in the NFL go down to the sidelines, I see Marc Cuban very focal and active with the Mavs.

Ever see Jerry give an injury report when Jimmy was on the sidelines? One of the most awkward NFL films moments is when in 1992 Jerry tries to shake Jimmy's hand after a TD against Oakland. Jimmy couldn't control whether Jerry went down there, but they weren't having a conversation during the game. See it under Parcells? Nope. So the sideline during the SB stuff needs to be clarified. Standing there versus talking to the head coach during a game. I don't think I even saw that under Switzer. It has happened at least twice now under Garrett, and one of those he blessed Garrett out. Both of them involved Romo. Jerry needs to take a chill pill over Romo.

You don't see any owners going up to coaches whispering commands during critical points of the game. You just don't.

I don't think Jerry whispered a command I think Jerry told him what he was informed from doctor and Romo. I agree I don't see others do that and? I really do not care what other owners do some only make money and could careless, BP view is Jerry cares a lot and yes in involved what he did , does not effect anything except extra sensitive fans who do not like him and use what they can to attack. If you want to blame him for poor season fine, he is the GM he deserves the heat that comes with the job but him concerned enough to check on their starting QB and informing Garrett what was happening with Romo I'm sorry I don't see it as a big issue.

Jerrys' senility has no business on the field, that said Washington opened up a good ole can o' whoop arse on the Cow gals with a real Defense.....same Defense who let Philly score 40 pts....at this point to achieve 8-8 isn't a given.....Philly twice, @ Washington and @ New York looking at least formidable.

How do you know this and how do you definitively make that statement? Garrett's on the sideline and if he felt that Weeden was a better option at that time, then the Owner/GM coming to the sidelines in his make or break contract year to "inform" him that Rommo is available could very well alter his thought process. I'm not saying this happened, but no one can definitively say Jerry had no impact, especially considering he's done this in the past:

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...-decision-to-talk-to-garrett-during-the-game/

"Jones says he doesn’t tell Garrett who can play and who can’t, but he did want to make sure Garrett understood that quarterback Tony Romo didn’t need to take any chances by playing in an essentially meaningless game against the Eagles.

“That’s Jason’s decision, but he doesn’t need to be making that one by himself,” Jones said. “So I wanted to, very briefly, step down there with just a few minutes gone in the first quarter, sit there and say, ‘Here’s the lay of the land. Romo’s got a hand injury, but it looks like we’re going to have him for New York.'”

And if Jones thinks his coach might not know the lay of the land, Jones is going to make sure his coach knows the lay of the land. That’s going to be the case as long as Jones owns the Cowboys."

For the record, I can't debate the decision. Had Weeden gone in and thrown a pick, we'd be talking about how the HC sat the franchise QB with more 4th quarter wins than any active QB. But my point is that Jerry going to the sidelines and Garrett knowing how Jerry may feel about a certain situation can certainly impact his decision making process. This is uncalled for during the game, especially in such critical moments.

We were 6 and 1 at that point, Jerry's world was round again, he can see extending his hand picked yes man HC another few years and staying comfortable, it's a Monday Night nail biter and on national TV.....this game had Jerry's ego written all over him and he had to be the center of attention. He just can't help himself.

And you know what, we may actually miss this stuff when Jerry finally meets his maker and the team is no longer a circus.

That is your view, I think Jason and Jerry relationship this is not an issue. Jerry is going to be involved regardless if people like it or not it is how it is and yes this team can win. Jerry is not holding anyone back. Informing the HC what is taking place in the locker room is not going to affect 1 single thing. People do not like Jerry I get that but go way overboard on every single thing that he says or does.

You're going off the reservation. Jerry's going to be involved whether I like it or not and not that's not an issue. Nor is the issue my approval or disapproval of Jerry. My point was that there was no way you could definitively make a statement that Jerry going down to the sideline did not affect a (damn) thing. Matter of fact, that very idea is contradictory to your own statement that "Jerry is going to be involved." To say that he's on the sideline discussing the status of a franchise QB to his HC and that discussion or Jerry's words have no impact on what the HC does is just not being honest with yourself.
