Rescue crews rushed to One World Trade Center early Wednesday afternoon where scaffolding is dangling from the side of the soaring tower.

Two window washers are trapped outside the 69th floor of the skyscraper in Downtown Manhattan.

Frank Dwyer, FDNY spokesperson, said they received a call about the frightening scene around 12:42 p.m.

“We have more than a dozen units including several highly trained specialized rescue companies that deal with high–angle rescues,” Dwyer told Yahoo News.

“We have them tethered. They have safety harnesses,” Dwyer said. “We are in communication with them. We are working to remove them as we speak.”

Seems like, they are off to a nice start, with this building!

I can see the building from out roof deck here at work, there are a couple of helicopters and a lot of sirens.

Seems like the FDNY has it under control.

Just following it on twitter, there was a very quick response to this incident. It seemed like within 30 minutes, the guys went from dangling in the air to being rescued.

For the life of me iIcannot understand why there isn't a different way to clean windows on skyscrapers.

Have the windows to where they rotate to the inside.......... Flip that bad boy, wash, rinse, repeat.

It's 2014 for crying out loud.

This is one job I would never have. I will be a dish washer, but I will never do windows. lol

I am all for it.

I see the cost being to high.
Insurance implications.
