Will he be active for this game? If not, when?

They normally only have 4 DTs active. I think that Marinelli prefers that 3 of those 4 be pass rushers (3-tech types). T. McClain has been the 4th DT and he is a tweener 3-tech/1-tech.

Hayden is the pure 1-tech and Marinelli seems to really like him. He's not very talented by has terrific hustle on every play including plays to the outside and back at the LB level.

Crawford says he'll be back. Does Brent replace T.McClain or do they have 5 DTs active?

I think how he fairs during this week of practice will determine if the think he is ready and can help out on defense.

Way to go out on a limb there......:)

Without seeing him at practice without fully knowing where he is in his return how can anyone predict? We can all say Oh he is playing or no way he can play this week and that is based on what? I'm just being honest. I'm sure coaches will be watching him closely

I think he may get in a few plays. And if we have a big lead late in the game, he may get plays then.
If he doesn't play and is inactive, then I see him playing on T-Day.

Just my opinion for now. Will see what the practice reports are.

why wait? if it's an in-shape concern, then the best way to get into "football shape" is to actually play football

work him in slowly, increasing the number of snaps each week

why not have 5 DT's active and go short elsewhere?

This. He has do be able to do a few things well in a limited amount of play. Question is: Are a few positive plays worth activating him?

i think it all comes down to what he can do this week of practice. he has to show he could play several snaps to be worth going short at another position. we are kinda thin in the secondary and have alot of lb's dinged up so we have to carry guys there.i've never really understood why all 53 can't be active but they can't and that means the guys who are active have to be able to do more than just get a few snaos to get into shape. you can't really get into true football shape without playing football but he has to be in good enough shape to play if there is an injury so we shall see what he can do this week

I'd activate Brent to get him 10-15 plays as a rust removal deal.
Not gonna try him forst time out versus Philly but I would like to know he can help stop the Philly run game.

I'd go short at WR either Street or Beasley sitting. This is because it is getting cold and time to focus on physical match ups and winning with the big boys on both sides of the ball.
Rather have a fresh, part-time 15 play DT then a 20 play WR.

Good points jt

Not to hijack this thread, but I am shocked Hayden is still on the roster. Because he is liked by coaches doesn't matter to me. What you do on the field should always trump something like that. I'll be disappointed if we don't upgrade that roster spot in the off season.

I think they are hedging their bets with him they know what they have with hayden, good or bad he is a known commodity. Brent is an unknown.

Well, Brent was working out during suspension and doing drills and stuff, so I don't think he's TOO out of shape. I realize football shape is different, but it's not like the dude's been sitting on the couch.

I think he's inactive until the game after Thanksgiving barring injury.

Agree, which is just what I said in another thread. He's in decent shape but not in good football shape from the reports I've read. I expect him back the game after Philly. (3 games from now)

i think street might be the most logical person to deactivate. we have beasley, dez, williams and harris there so we can still go 4 wr's when needed
