Does Garrett survive this scenario?

It's possible for the Cowboys to go 11-5 and miss the playoffs. If this happens, does he get another year, or is it playoffs or bust?

It depends on how we got to 11-5. If this happens with injuries to major players (Romo, Dez, DeMarco), I can see him surviving it.

If he gets there by blowing some games with stupid decisions that prevent us from winning more games, then I think he should get the axe.

I can't imagine Jerry firing Jason if we go 11-5, under any circumstance. We're on too good a path, with too obvious an opportunity to get better next year just by adding talent on defense. Any shake up adds more uncertainty than it resolves.

I agree with this.

I love that people are still trying to invent ways for him to get fired.

Hypothetically speaking Hostile, 5 years in as a HC (4 full years) without making the playoffs pretty much is a fireable offense for anybody.

I think the chances of the Cowboys missing the playoffs are nearly nil so it's a mute point.

Having said that, the Bears fired 10-6 Lovie Smith two years ago for lack of recent playoff success despite the fact he had taken the Bears to the Superbowl.

Of course not. Jerry would look for any reason to maintain the status quo. The last thing he wants to do is go back to walking on eggshells. Too much fun to be had with Jason at the helm.

Really? No chance we miss the playoffs? Why do you think that?

You would like to think so, but this is a crazy year. With the way the NFL backloaded our division games, there are some interesting scenarios. The Lions, Packers, Cards, Seahawks, and 49ers can ruin our season.

He'll be back unless there's a meltdown by the end of the season.

As Jerry is fond of saying, the needle is pointing upward for this team, not downward, as Garrett's O-Line gets better and they begin working on the defense. I don't know why it would be a bad thing to bring Garrett back at this point.

They've already exceeded Jerry's expectations for this season. In the off-season, Jerry acknowledged more than once that it was going to be a difficult year due to a lack of talent.

Here we go again.

Same answer since preseason - Garrett isn't going anywhere.

Are you being serious? That's just a pathetic statement/question.

Yeah, this all seems obvious to me. There's no chance Garrett goes after 11-5, because even Jerry's not that stupid.
Goofy thread.
