NFL to experiment with FG Rule change

Do they even have FG attempts in the Pro Bowl? How would that game be a proving ground for anything unless proving what a bore the game is when there is no defense at all? Kind of like where today's NFL is heading.

Might be an advantage for Dallas. Dan Bailey is such an accurate kicker that many of his kicks go straight down the middle. They'd still go in even if the goalposts were a lot narrower.

Why? Why make the kicking game more difficult? Possibly b/c they are making the offense as a whole EASIER with not letting players play - sneeze on a WR and get a PI; sneeze on a QB get roughing. This is getting out of hand.

I would think they expand it to preseason to try out.L if they don't get any kicks in the pro bowl.

It's surprising the NFL will consider anything that might decrease scoring.

I guess they don't consider kickers real players, either.

I like it. The kickers are way better today than 20 years ago. This would just even it out a bit.
It would also encourage coaches to go for it more when they are the 35 yard line or so, instead of kicking it.

As for Bailey, he'll be fine. He's generally right down the middle

Stupid. Don't change for the sake of change.

No! With all due respect you couldn't be more wrong. Changing and evolving the game is what has made the NFL the greatest game in the world. I know it's weird but once those field goal percentages go down from 40 and out you are going to see more coaches go for it on 4th down, it will become a more exciting game.

DON'T BE BASEBALL and live in the past. Kickers have exceeded the intent of the goal post width so close 'em up. The second you get complacent in business is the day you're dead.

Good point. Plus, from a purely selfish perspective, field goals of opposing teams in AT&T Stadium are almost automatic from any distance, so the change could help us out.

next up.......no more rushing the passer.....only 10 men on defense and the QB is allowed to stand untouched in the pocket until he finds someone to throw it to. The QB, is no longer allowed to run with the football in this new system, so he is always upright and most likely healthy all season long.

How about having double goal posts, with thew outer one worth 3 points and the inner one worth 4 or 5?

Stupid, I know--just like this is.
