NFL to experiment with FG Rule change

Why don't they widen the hash marks like college? It wouldn't be a straight on attempt then.

Stupid. Don't change for the sake of change.
It's the exact opposite of that. The kicking game has changed dramatically without any rule changes. FG percentages are much much higher than they used to be, and XPs are ridiculous. I'm all for anything that makes kicking more risky (like it used to be) and increases the importance of, you know, actual football plays. I see no downside to this move.

Want change?......

Make FGs worth 0-39yrds worth 3pts

40-49 worth 4pts....

50-59 worth 5pts....

60yrd worth 6pts....

We want change for the better, not for the worse, don't we? Why in the world do we want to make the kicking game MORE important than it is today?

I think its an attempt to make more offensive plays and not make a 45 yard field goal something approaching an 90% play. I don't think its a terrible idea.

Widening the hash marks changes more than just the kicking game. It would have a big influence on offenses in general.

I guess the league is tired of kickers hitting 90% for the season..........................Bailey should be fine, most of his kicks are right down the middle....................not worried.
