The facemask is irrelevant to whether it was PI or not. You guys are using that to distract from the actual call on the field.

You cannot grab someone's jersey to impede their progress. You cannot make clear substantial contact with the receiver before the ball arrives with your back to the football.

Hitchens did both. It was a penalty.

it goes back to ones own views. Ref conferred and corrected the call, they guy who threw the flag was 15 yards away from the play the refs who had a better view conferred and called it off. It is what it is. Det was still in the lead and still controlled their own fate. Not as if that was the last play of the game, hell they had the lead

It goes back to the rule book.

Its okay to admit that the Cowboys don't always get screwed by refs. Sometimes they get gifts.

Nope. Witten would make the catch because he doesn't have to rely on slight contact and technicality to make one. And then after that he would stand up, give the ball to the ref, sing the star spangled banner on his way back to the huddle with red white and blue streamers flying out of his *** while every piece of turf his foot touches turns into a piece of Filet Mignon. THAT's how it would happen.

Yes it does and there was more than one ref on the field the other 2 did not think he was the right call. It is a judgment call when it comes to PI more times than not.

How do we "hate" a post?? Actually, here's an idea. Instead of "likes" for posts, we should have "wins" and "losses" Then every post could have a winning or losing record.

Back to the content though, if you're going to pretend that incidental contact is PI, then you HAVE to admit there was a facemask on Pettigrew. So in that case, penalties offset. There's no way it was a singular PI on Dallas, in ANY case.

You have no interest in getting the call right

Pettigrew was never open and Stafford threw an uncatchable ball. Why bail him out with a bad penalty?

Something I didn't notice before about that play. The only, only, ONLY reason Hitchens knocked Pettigrew's arm away was BECAUSE Pettigrew grabbed his facemask. Without that, there's not even incidental contact.

I agree, I was surprised the flag was picked up but then I felt it was a bad call to begin with

Contact was by both players. The official saw that and made the call to let them play. Key word to me in what you said is "pretend" because you refuse to acknowledge that contact was made by both players despite the evidence, so therefore you pretend that that the contact was one sided.

As for first contact. I am sorry I didn't realize that once a penalty was called you had to stop looking for them for the rest of the play. Guess I will have to look up what "there were multiple fouls on the play" means when an official says it. Can any one help me with that since according to Risen no foul is a foul after the first flag is thrown?

No it is not. It shows that contact was made by both players. The official may not have seen the facemask but saw the contact by Pettigrew. Contact was by both players and the line official said he didn't see enough from either to justify the flag and it was picked up. You are keying on the facemask only. It was the fact that contact was made by both and it was insignificant according to the line judge, hence the pick up, correctly, of the flag. This is exactly what Carter was talking about.

But..but..but...Hitchens grabbed his jersey off the line, like that isn't done by corner backs and doesn't happen to Dez and other receivers like almost every play.

What is really funny....Is how the big push for illegal contact in the pre-season got completely thrown out the window this weekend. There was so much grabbing and re-routing WRs in this round of the playoffs I'm shocked no one has mentioned it.

That Carolina/Cardinal game was horrific w/ the way the Cards just abused people. Can't say the Lions/Cowboys game was that much better.

Hopefully the officiating won't be a factor in Green Bay. It's killing the game.
