The first bit of news from Green Bay today falls squarely into the "not shocking whatsoever" category, but is also in the "reassuring" one.

Relax once again, Packers fans. Aaron Rodgers will practice in at least a limited fashion today (Thursday) as the Packers continue their preparations for their game against theDallas Cowboys on Sunday. Head coach Mike McCarthy confirmed to Sirius/XM's Bruce Murray and Rich Gannon that Rodgers' recovery is going according to plan and that he'll be on the field today:

We need to start worrying about our own guys. Rogers is gonna play and be good regardless. The Cowboys are now facing Sunday's game possibly without their 2 most stout players up front, R.McClain and Mincey. Both unlikely to practice again today dealing with concussions.

Practice could mean a walk through too.....

Regardless, doesn't matter. Rodgers is one of those guys that doesn't need to practice or that much of it. He will still be a threat, no practice, bad calf, cold weather...he is still dangerous.

Chipotles my life.

He will play. Key will be how much he can pivot on handoffs, and scramble.

He's a danger even if not mobile as he gets rid of the ball so quickly. Key for us is limit YAC and don't let Nelson get open in the middle for one of their patented long connections off a short pass

Packers are practicing inside with the doors open because of the wind. It got down to 22 inside for them. But outside it hovered around zero with a lot of wind. Game day should be around 20 with a light wind.

They told us days ago that Thursday would be his first day of practice so how is this news? So tired of hearing about Rodgers. Let's give him a nice vacation send off come Sunday afternoon.

The NFL Channel was reporting yesterday he wasn't going to practice today, although he was going to play on Sunday. It sounded like they weren't going to take a chance of testing his leg until the game Sunday, but who knows whether or not it is partially a disinformation campaign. I'm sure the Cowboys are preparing for Rodgers, regardless.

Packers QB Aaron Rodgers’ calf muscle has a slight tear in it in addition to be significantly strained, per sources, via @mortreport and I.

The injury is not expected to prevent Rodgers from playing in Sunday’s Divisional Playoff against the Dallas Cowboys, but it could impact how mobile and effective he is.

“There’s no question he will play, but there’s also no question he will not be 100 percent,” said one doctor familiar with the injury. “The question is whether he’ll be 95 percent or 50 percent.”

The Packers are aggressively treating the injury, with the hope he can be as well as possible. Each person responds differently to calf injuries.

Green Bay held Rodgers out of practice on Wednesday and how active he is the rest of the week still is uncertain. He is scheduled to go through team drills today.

What’s not uncertain is that Rodgers’ calf is not right heading into Sunday’s game, and now he will try to overcome it, just as he did in the regular-season finale to help beat Detroit.

Rodgers scares me regardless of how is calf is.. Dude's a great QB..

Their backup scares me even more.

If he's able to stay in the pocket he'll be very effective regardless of his calf injury so the key will be to apply pressure and force him to move around. The lack of practice time could throw him off some giving the Cowboys a good chance. The only way I see the Cowboys winning this game is if Rodgers isn't sharp.

I think you'll see Marinelli send some blitzes up the middle early to force Rogers to move laterally. We'll have a good idea early on what to expect.
