Aaron Rodgers to practice Thursday; will play Sunday with torn calf muscle *merge*

Tom Brady had 235 yards passing and two TD's. Sure, they didn't give up 300 yards against them, but they didn't look like a defense ranked 10th either.

They gave up 300 yards to Brees and nearly 400 to Matt Ryan. Outside of those three, the only other two QBs the Packers faced that were really any threat were Stafford and Tannehill.

I'm just saying, this Packers D isn't some dominant force. They've had problems in their secondary for quite some time and that hasn't changed. What has is their run D slipping, and it's quite bad this year.

Actually, it has. The secondary is probably the strength of the team. The safetys are solid this year with Clinton Dix and Burnett. The depth at CB is second to none in the league. The Packers secondary is light years ahead of the past few seasons. The problems with the Packers defense is in their Inside Lb. But since they moved Matthews inside and gotten Hawk off the field, it has been significantly better. They are not a top ten defense but since the bye when they made the changes, the running defense is top five.

And I'm asking you to show me a team they went up against that challenged them at all on defense this year. Because when they faced a challenge, they didn't look mighty.

They had one of the easiest schedules in the league this year, most of that division did.

I thought Green Bay did a pretty good job vs New England. They did a competent job against Detroit in week 17 considering they had Flynn in there for a whole and a gimpy Rodgers.

They certainly haven't faired as well on the road against top tier defenses like Seattle, Detroit, Buffalo, etc.

I guess New England doesn't count. Is the Cowboys defense as good as the teams that gave them trouble? Is Dallas defense as good as Buffalo, Detroit or Seattle. I don't think so. Not sure why you believe that Dallas is going to all of a sudden become the 2002 Bucs defense or as good as any of those teams I noted with the number of walking wounded they have.

No, Dallas doesn't have a defense as good as Seattle, Detroit or Buffalo... but those teams don't have the offense on the other side of the ball that Dallas does. And, as we all know, the offensive time of possession and the momentum swing from an offensive TD also effect the other side of the ball.

Besides, if you're looking at the Dallas defense as a whole for 2014 you aren't getting a clear picture either. They are playing much better now than they did in the first 10 or so games this year. They have finally had a whole season playing in Marinelli's defense and they have a better feel now for what he wants and how to do it.

The Bottom line is though, Green Bay has a better offense than Dallas has a defense. For Dallas to have a chance, the same will have to hold true about the Dallas offense being better than the GB defense.

They didn't do much against New England, Tom Brady had a good day. Over 250 yards passing and a pair of TDs and no INTs, and Brady completed 62% of his passes for a QB rating of 102.7. They weren't dominant against him. Since after the bye, Brady's best game came against that Packers D.

I think some of you forget the kind of defense we run. This is a defense that is going to give up a lot of pass yards, but create turnovers. We stop the run and force a QB into passing, that's our defense. Obviously, our offense plays into it as well by winning time of possession.

We are top 10 in stopping the run and top 3 (Last time I checked) in creating turnovers. This defense knows it's role and is doing it well. Not to say our defense doesn't have it's problems, but I think a lot of you have this worried feeling in the back of your minds that Rodgers is going to torch us for 300 yards passing, 4 TDs, with no turnovers. I don't see that happening, I don't think he'll have enough time to even have that kind of game due to our offense.

We got this.

Packers scored 40 points a game, on average, at home and that was with them basically calling off the dogs and sitting Rodgers in the 2nd half of a couple of the bigger blowouts.

I think you are going to have to assume the Packers will score their typical points per possession on offense. The key to this game will be reducing their # of possessions by controlling the clock via TOP. Murray and the OL will be key.

Reduce their possesions and then you are looking at them scoring somewhere in the mid to high 20s. I think the Cowboys offense has the potential to do better than that.

Lets hope we don't find out. I will say Dallas has not been a team who panics when things do not go exactly as planned.

I regret to say I think we might have to come from behind at some point in this game.

We have to pressure Rodgers.. he is not 100%,. Don’t let him sit back there and pick us apart,,, rush him and make him scramble and get some hits on him.. we need to go all out. No time to try and play a finesse game.. Go up there and blitz and play crazy!
Smack him in the mouth.

That would be absolutely disgraceful. Pressure him, and whatever happens, happens.

Plus, just beat the damn Packers. No need to play dirty. It's the same reason we all hate the Lions and their dirty D Line.

Actually, you can't purposely go for his legs/knees. It's the Brady rule. But I'm not opposed to our heavy defense linemen wrapping him up and putting their full weight on him as they collapse to the ground with Rodgers in their arms. :)

do what you have to in order to win, I fyou have a chance to tackle him low, do it

That's football.

Don't commit a dumb penalty trying to hurt Aaron Rodgers.

Yeah, with 4 minutes left in the 4th. What the hell do you think Green Bay did? Started playing prevent after the half? The Packers allowed 30 points after the half, that wasn't a "change up" that was a freakin' defensive collapse and even the Green Bay HC said so himself.

Haha, you're crazy.

Matt, your enthusiasm is admirable but misguided. The Packers were up by over four touchdowns at the half against Atlanta. If you don't think that the defense pulled back and started coasting through the second half, then you just started watching last week. It is just the nature of the game. I see it time and time again year after year after year. But if you want to hang your hat on those two quarters then be my guest. I would think their whole defensive play since the bye week is more representative of who they are now than those two quarters. And they have played pretty well. Did they play the greatest teams. NE is a super bowl favorite for the AFC but you skip by them like they were no big deal. It is the way you make your points. If GB did something well, it was because the other team did not do as well. I get that. But they did play well defensively over the past 9 or ten games. you criticize their secondary but that is probably their greatest strength. Packers weakness on defense is at ILB IF Hawk is in there. If not, they are better. Good luck this weekend, I think it will be a very good to great game. Maybe the best game of the postseason.

I hate it when fans of other teams say "good luck" as I know they don't mean it as good luck to us means bad luck to them.

yea, I guess sportsmanship did go out with my generation. Good Luck meaning we want to kick your butt bad but at the end of the day I will tip my hat and say good game regardless of the outcome.
