Checked out a bit of their methodology and it seems pretty sound... I would have to disagree and say we were 4 players away from contending next year, or 2 by their measurement (at least 2 new players on the d-line and 2 new players in the secondary, they were far kinder to Wilcox (who I think is an average SS... but when we need a FS he isn't that) and Melton (good through part of the year... but just not enough) than I would have been) but still... nice to see them say that we are that close. Though... reallly... Romo is not elite?

We don't have a bad defense... we have an average defense... by every definition of the word. Though like I said, I think we need 2-4 players there to really contend.

Yea, wasn't a shot at you, was the article. The defense needs a few players as well as special teams.

Well, we have a bad defense yet we are zero players away from being a SB contender, sounds legit..................

Well we were perhaps a call from playing the Seahawks for the NFC. A team we dominated in their home. A team favored over the Pats.

We absolutely could have won it all this year.

Excuse me while I go throw up.

i said in august cowboys were one good draft away from hoisting the lombardi, and they would enter 2015 tc as a top 5 favorite!

t.williams needs to make his way into the good category.

as ive said on here for years, you win in this league because of stars, not depth.

Special teams! Special teams! I'm not joking. An average defense with our offense can work, but the return game needs work.

Id say 2 DE, 1DT, 2 CB, a Free Safety away from elite

Lawerence will be good enough to get us to that elite stage, and Mincey and Selvie (assuming he comes back... this sort of assumes everyone will be) will be fine as backups, so I will settle for 1 DE. Scandrick is fine as a CB, and we have what we need on the team to make the backups, so again I will settle for just 1 CB. So yea, that's where I get my 4 from.

We need a dynamic pass rusher. Not a "hopeful" that's already on the roster. We need to acquire a proven DE. A DT that can push the pocket and help free up Crawford would be nice too.

Terrance Knighten of the Broncos. The guy can push the pocket. He can occupy 2 players by himself. He has been in the Super Bowl before (and played quite well in the playoffs to get there). He can even get the QB from time to time. He is dominate against the run. Yes, he is bigger than we would normally like (more of a 0-tech than a 1-tech) but if he plays like a 1 tech, I don't see the problem with that.

Yea we could use a player or two on D but we were in serious contention this year without any new players, we were 1 game away from playing for a Super Bowl appearance. That's serious contention and got robbed in that game. We can content and beat anybody in the league and they proved that. They're definitely serious contenders.

I think <statistically> is a average defense, however, it has basically no game-changers.

This is true.... But...

I think we "really contended" this year.

That being said we could always stand to upgrade the roster to give us a better shot.

.... We really contended this year. We were 2-4 better decisions away from getting past GB and beating Seattle in Seattle.

But yeah, we legit contended this year. We will be better next year.

Or it NOT coming down to THAT play to begin with. More to my point.

I think those are generally silly things to say, because it did come down to it, and it came down to it for Green Bay, too. Sure, we 100% could have made plays to make up for it. That was enormous.
