Nobody but the jealous haters are questioning anything. Just like nobody really questions Jerry Rice's 3 Super Bowls even though he admitted cheating and nobody really questions Denver's Super Bowls even though they were caught red handed deliberately hiding payments to players.

If there is a rule against it - literal or in spirit - then they're all cheaters. The 49ers also cheated when signing players they could not afford by giving them deals under the table that circumvented the salary cap. This gave them an increased advantage via unfair means to oppose the 'Boys ability to "threepeat" back in the '90s.

All it does is give the haters something to burn over, which is rather quite enjoyable to watch.

It is from an internal sense of justice that a lack of fairness imparts upon man's moral conscience (for those who still have it) that makes them "burn" over these things.

This will be less than a footnote in history when people look at their dynasty.

As a single individual, my presence proves nothing with respect to the NFL. All monopolies are pretty much "safe" by virtue of the fact that they are monopolies. That is why government intervention is required to break up a monopoly. The NFL is a special case that gets benefits that other corporations do not because it is an entrenched American cultural tradition. It also has a web of economic impact in the country that is quite large. It is safe as long as the majority of fans think it still has integrity and is considered to be as American as apple pie. It's like expecting FIFA to go away for similar issues.

The NFL knows that the people whining the loudest are all still going to watch anyway. Nobody in this forum is going anywhere. Every single one of us will be tuning in on September 13 when the Cowboys open their season.

Whining is effectively saying "everybody cheats" so everyone should turn a blind eye to the Pats cheating and it shouldn't taint their legacy.

It's funny you mention social media, because the Patriots are really the first and only football dynasty of the internet age (meaning once the internet hit widespread, mainstream usage). Other teams have 2 Championships, but that doesn't quite qualify as a dynasty. So we are literally seeing hatred directed at a team unlike anything we've ever seen before.

If social media and the internet existed in their current forms during the 80's or 90's, we would have seen the exact same types of people making the exact same comments directed at SF and Dallas.

I don't understand your point. People aren't going anywhere because they still like the game. It doesn't mean they are going to stop complaining about alleged cheating. The NFL is entertainment. Ratings mean profits, and so it revels in the fact that people talk about it, regardless of what is being discussed. It is only when something effects the bottom line in a significantly negative way, will it feel somewhat threatened to consider the ramifications.

The Cowboys are probably still the most hated team in the league despite their lack of SBs in recent history. Even teams that completely blew out their opponent in the Super Bowl generally had a tight game on the way there. A game that turned on something other than the play of the QB.

well said. as much as the pats lovers love to think their team is the most hated its not true. cowboys can remain relevant and most hated and loved without having to have a winning season. pats need to cheat and win to be relevant and or hated.

of course not. and the fact that you ask me that question shows you don't know where i stand but have but a cursory understanding of what i believe in. i don't blame you. i don't demand people to know the depth of anyones belief system on messageboards. but that question is pretty basic. and cowboys have gone to how many Conference championships and Super Bowl games since 1995/6? and the Patriots? ( of course. you dont have to answer that just making a point here).


like i said before if the patriots can generate the same level of hate the cowboys have been generating since SBXXX after the Pats start having a serious drought or build up consistent loosing to mediocre seasons than OK the level of hate is similar.


though I do agree sustained success builds jealousy and hate. but like i said before my hatred of the pats is because of cheating not because of their success. im hesitant to consider the pats as successful as they are because of cheating controversy. id honestly rather them not have that cloud their org. ive said this time and time before with you. i like teams/orgs doing it right the right way.
