Who do all of you think gets the tag today?

My list includes:

Dez Bryant (of course, barring an 11th hour deal being worked out)

Demaryius Thomas WR Broncos

Justin Houston LB Chiefs

Devin McCourty S Patriots

Jason Pierre-Paul DE Giants

Anyone else have any they think I've missed?

I think the lions would be crazy to pay like 22 mil to tag suh. Just dont see it happening.

dthomas
jpp
dez
houston
will all be tagged today imo.

What's funny is that the only player mentioned on the ESPN NFL page is Dez. Cowboys = clicks

I think Suh still gets franchised. The crazy thing is that him alone will take up 25% of Detroit's salary cap next year due to his dead money hit as well.

Ouch... Big time.
Willk they make other contract adjustments to get under CAP just to TAG him?

As we all know Dez will get tagged but I don't think he will remain under the franchise tag, I expect Dallas to reach a long term deal and remove the tag well before the July deadline.

I just can't see it. I think he would sign that deal as soon as he got it and they'd be stuck with that huge payment. He'd never get that kind of payment for one year otherwise. And he'd have even that much more leverage in negotiations on a long term deal.

A team just can't devote that kind of cap space to one player, especially a defensive tackle. No matter how good they are.

I would hope for something before March 10th to free up money to be competitive in free agency. By June, that well has dried up.

I don't expect Dallas to make a big splash in FA regardless. I don't see Dallas going after high priced FA, I do expect the mid level players as we have been doing and having success with.

I'm hoping for otherwise this year.

I believe that signing a true impact pass rusher like Greg Hardy can dramatically improve this entire defense, thereby getting this team to Super Bowl level. And I don't feel that going the bargain route will accomplish the same thing.

It would cost a lot and require some pains down the road, but I feel many of those pains are inevitable. I would at least like a shot at a championship first.

Agree, a new deal will get done.
A WR market has not been set yet this year, everyone basing a deal off of the CJ deal still.
Seen where Cobb from GB that talks were right around $9 mil, but that could have just been the media setting that mark.

It's a waiting game of sorts on both sides for all teams and players.
I think a lot will come down to $$$ available too. If Murray leaves via FA, then that clears up more $$$ to spend on Dez. As now they want to use the cap space to get both signed.
With Murray gone, then they replace him most likely with a cheap price from a drafted player. More for Dez, More for other FA's.

I still say it's the guaranteed money more than the overall contract amount.

I would tag Gostkowski instead of McCourty
