I do and don't. This seriously being the best team we have fielded in years that was built not rented, I'd hate to see many of the top three or four leave. While Dez disappears at times, I think he would be more than missed. Romo starting over with a new WR just scares me. There is chemistry there and to me that means a great deal.

Seattle let go of their best WR in Golden Tate and then Harvin and they managed fine. Now yes, they are a different situation but still. Not having any push from your DL will not get you anywhere. Even with a potent offense. You also strengthen the OL more in the draft.

Lions threw tons at Megatron and they have failed to even win a playoff game. AJ Green has never won one.

How many explosive top of the line WRs were featured in the Super Bowl?

Not saying Dez has no value. That would be dumb. I just don't like throwing big money at the WR position. And yes, he disappears too often. How far down the list was he in the playoffs in terms of receiving?

But the backup plan--that would include the extra 120 million to spend over the next several years and the extra 1st rounder this year and next year--is not too shabby either.

It would have to be a contender that has the cap room to do it, and the willingness to give up two first round draft picks. Think Galloway and Williams. How did that work out for us?

Firstly, that is only an option if they use the Non-Exclusive franchise tag. If they use the Exclusive tag he can't negotiate with other teams. Secondly, the money saved by not signing Dez is not going to be enough to sign both Suh and Hardy. Lastly, even first round picks can be a crap shoot. I'd rather keep Dez, as the say, a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.

Yeah, but it is ok to let the leading rusher in the NFL walk to save cap money because anyone can run behind this O-line, right? Shouldn't that also apply to a receiver playing with the same line? Why is that rationale different for Dez? The answer is that you have to keep the cap in mind. Dez may not be playing this very smart. We will see. I could see a scenario where Dez walks and Demarco stays, if Dez' demands are too outragious.

Regardless of whether fans want two 1st rounders for Dez or not, this FO and staff won't be inclined to go that route. Jerry is very much in a win now mode. Letting Dez go his way would only deal the offense a serious blow, regardless of the defense's improvement. The two 1st round rookies to be gained likely wouldn't have an impact until the second year. I'm not saying I'd object to such a strategy; just thinking those in control probably would.

If you're picking at the end of the 1st round and a great WR is the final piece needed, I can see that happening.
In most cases, I don't because it's not just the 2 1st rounders you give up (and the fairly cheap 5 year deals that come with them) it's 120+ million plus (and maybe 40 guaranteed) you also have to spend

Dez can play 5 plus more years and his arrow is pointing up. Everyone wants the Murray of last year (where was everyone last year wanting to sign Murray to 8 a year). He has had one great year and every other year he has missed multiple games.. He may already be used up (due to number of carries. Go look up the curse of 370 for evidence of that). If not, very seriously doubt he last as long as what Dez will. I'm betting he isn't a 1,000 yard rusher in two years (especially if he isn't playing behind this line). Meanwhile, running backs typically translate better from college to the NFL than WR's. This is also a very deep class. So, between keeping Dez (a very special talent) and Murray (a high character guy, a very tough guy who plays a position that is undervalued and easily hurt), I choose Dez every time. Go watch the Houston catch and answer if any WR could make that catch. WR is less dependent on the line as a running back is.

Now, do I want Murray back? Yes. But at the right price. If not, I have no problem letting him walk.
