I like this scenario better:

Get the picks for Dez, package them plus everything else needed to pick #2. Select Mariotta then dangle him in front of the Iggles and watch all Iggles fans scream and cry that they have been once again scorned by the Dallas Cowboys.

Yes, I like that scenario much better.

Place the tag on Dez (which we already did). Let him see what he gets. Don't match. Get compensated two 1st rounders. Use that money we will not be throwing at Dez and go get Suh and Hardy to make this DL legit. I would be all over that all day. And find a young WR in the draft at a much cheaper cost.

I love Dez and his passion but don't feel you absolutely need him to win.

Problem is no team is stupid enough to sign him now that he is franchised

I would take 2 first round picks and the cap space for Dez so fast it would make your head spin

Depends on the team.

Patriots or Seahawks means two very low 1st round picks for Dez. Nope.

Raiders? Maybe, Kevin White is in the conversation now. Closest thing I've seen to Dez in a while.

Honestly, I'd rather keep Dez though.

If we didn't have a franchise QB like Romo then it would be a great way to stockpile #1 picks to draft his replacement. Since Romo has a few more years keeping Dez is the better mover.

no, not a fan of this scenario. We need to lock up Dez for his career. Can't underestimate how important he is....just look at his TD totals the last few years and you want to get rid of that!?

I'm not saying I just want to get rid of that for the sake of it. But sometimes you have to let some people go to further the betterment of your team. To me, gaining 2 first rounders and getting 2 very solid DL would make this a better team than just having Dez and none of the rest. You can find WRs in the draft. Cruz and Beckham were found by the Giants. Buccs found Mike Evans. A lot of good talented WRs come into the league in every draft. And with the new CBA, they are cheaper.

I really want to see Dez with a star on his helmet for the rest of his career, but no receiver is worth Calvin Johnson money, not even Calvin Johnson and Dez wants more than Calvin. They average at most, 8-10 touches a game. Even the best WR's don't have enough impact. The proof is in the pudding.

That said, I absolutely do not want Hardy or Suh. If Dez walks, my guess is they sign some second tier DL guys they like and someone like Cobb.

On the other hand, they went to 2 straight Super Bowls without a big time WR like Dez.

This. That is not Seattle's DNA to go break the bank for offense. They already let Tate and Harvin go. They may let Lynch walk as well. They build the team how you need to. Interior out.

Lions threw big money at QB and WR and where has that gotten them? If you keep ignoring defense, does not matter what your offense does.

Hardy and Suh would dramatically better this defense in ways we desperately need.

Why would you not want them? Don't say off the field stuff because everyone pretends to care about that but really doesn't. Suh can be dirty but by all accounts, his teammates would run through a brick wall for him. Hardy is very talented. Both are young.

2nd tier DL is not going to do anything. That's what we already have and we have a non existent pass rush.

Because of off the field issues.

I would take Suh before Hardy, as his is all on field mental issues. Suh isn't worth "best defensive player" money and that's what he wants. Hardy had one outstanding year and has been out of football for a (almost) a full season, but will get top level money because of the market.

Continue to spend wisely and build through the draft.

1. Seattle gave a first round pick for Harvin and paid part of that 67 million dollar contract. Harvin was one of the highest paid receivers.

If that's not paying a lot for offense, I don't know what is.

2. I don't agree with "Seattle building the team inside out."

Most of their money is tied into their SECONDARY. A huge chunk of it.

They still have to pay Wilson and Wagner. None of the guys on their d-line nor o-line break the bank. The o-line is probably slightly above average.

3. Lions also invested a ton in D-line. They didn't just pay Calvin, acquire Bush and Tate.

They have 3 1st round picks on the d-line. Their secondary is average a best. They are like Phily. A team with a good pass rush, but porous secondary.

What happened to both teams? They got beat by us at the end of the year.

Good teams will not give up two 1st round picks AND huge cap space to pay Dez.

Bad teams might do something stupid except bad teams have top 10 picks and likely would not give those up.

I'm fine taking the two 1st AND cap space. Suh will get paid more than Dez but his cap hit will be half of the tag cap hit. You really can get Suh and Hardy for a lower total cap hit than the cap hit for Dez under the tag.

They would probably add a free agent WR under that scenario.

Lol, over react much?

AP or Ingram or several rd 1-2 RBs can give us what Murray was going to

Dez is franchised

you will get varied viewpoints. I am eager to see who matches.

But just thinking of two 1st rounder take meine breath away.
Good luck to us all.
