Three Dog Night star Jimmy Greenspoon loses cancer battle

Three Dog Night star Jimmy Greenspoon has died five months after asking fans to help fund his medical expenses for a battle with metastatic melanoma.The keyboard player lost his battle with cancer on Wednesday (11Mar15).

A post on Three Dog Night's Facebook page confirms the 67 year old's death. It reads: "We are very saddened at the passing of our dear friend and longtime band mate Jimmy Greenspoon. Jimmy died peacefully at home today surrounded by his family. Please keep him and his loved ones in your prayers and your hearts."

Greenspoon was part of the group's classic 1960s and 1970s line-up, which notched up a series of hit albums and 21 consecutive Billboard Top 40 hits in the U.S.

Me too, I was a huge '3 Dog Night' fan.

First heard them as a freshman in high school. A very impressionable time in my life, and an impressionable age.

I still listen to them to this day.

I remember Cory Wells and Chuck Negron.

I am so sorry to hear this. I have Three Dog Night "Liked" on FB, and get messages from them all the time. I don't really know how I missed this one. I was sick for a couple of days, and I guess it came through then, didn't really scroll through all of the posts. I guess it came through then. I feel terrible. Wish I had paid more attention to all the posts that had come through when I got back on.

RIP, Mr. Greenspoon. I have loved you and your band since the 70s. God Bless, and GodSpeed, my good sir.
