I believe this is obvious by the contract alone. Word is the team has been targeting a McFadden contract for awhile now.

I expect our backs to consist of a mystery man, McFadden and Williams. Dunbar really has to show his worth to lock a roster spot over McFadden, Williams will make this team, I'm sure he already knows this which is why he turned down 10 other teams for this opportunity.

It's success rate for accuracy is low from what I can tell.

Clowns always have to try to out-cute themselves for no reason, I guess "what if McFadden isnt Demarco's replacement but rather a replacement for Joseph Randle" wouldn't have sounded juicy enough.

I think there's something to the idea of Dallas dealing Joseph Randle (or cutting him outright) mostly because it seemed like Dallas really made sure that Ryan Williams stayed in Dallas.

I like Randle's upside but not if it comes w/ off-the-field crap that will keep him off the field.

IF Dallas can improve the defense, it likely also means they don't have to have a nearly 400carry RB. A 250-275carry starting RB + 75-100carry backup + ~25-50 carry #3 would work well too and keep guys healthy

Man, Joseph Randle irritates me. That kid has shown some good things. But I do understand if the team feels they cant trust him anymore.

I hope fans don't sleep on McFadden. He didn't have the career he should have because he played on some sorry Raiders teams with weak OLs. Consequently he took some big hits which led to injuries.

Murray used to get nicked up to. This year he ran behind 3 pro bowl linemen, finally played 16 games, and had a career year.

Not saying McFadden will duplicate Murray's 2014 season, but I fully expect him to have a nice year for us - depending on how many carries he gets. The talent is still there.

I'm glad I am too old to start twittering. Some of these people that get on that twitter program instantly think they're stars. I know the younger people like being twitterers, but I just cant see it.

:):)

Some of us " old dogs" are just getting up to speed with forums etc.....

Agree on Twitter. Condensed version of " get their attention with a headline" and then not any real substance or explanation followed by hard facts.

You like me , may be old enough to know that " Twitt" was used as a derogative . e.g. you impudent or arrogant " Twitt"

Even if they'd signed Murray, I think we would have seen a drop in his carries.

Also, it's no coincidence that has Dallas' Oline improved, (from what it was in 2011-2012 to 2013 then to 2014) that Murray's healthy and output also improved, as did Romo's protection. It's why Dallas' 1st task this offseason was securing that Oline. I hate to see Parnell go but I hope they can replace him with as solid a backup

I would rather have Randle.
Tell me why. He was certainly better in 2014 than he was in 2013, which was awful. But he continues to be just average and now he's adding off the field baggage. Is it more about McFadden than him? If so, I get that I guess. Not impressed either.

Nothing has happened in the Randle case. The Cops sent the info to the DA back in Mid Feb, its now mid March and not a peep. Even the Restraining order case got pushed back. I seriously doubt anything will happen in this instance and it looks purely like a jilted baby momma.

Randle is on a rookie contract, he will be back and most likely will be the starter unless we sign AD.

From the word go I suspected this move was about replacing Joseph Randle, not Murray. I suspect a draft pick or Peterson is that replacement. More likely the former.

I hope you are right about that Hostile................the McFadden move would make way more sense if he was intended to be Randle's replacement and not Murray's replacement.

I hope so. We need fresh legs out there getting 15 carries a game. Leave the leftovers for McFadden

I sure as hell hope Jerry doesn't plan to give up draft picks for the privilege of absorbing Peterson's monster contract.

I don't think we're getting Peterson and, as beast as he is, I'm glad. Too much money, too big of a name, too old? This team doesn't need such a stellar rb. The chemistry is good here- can keep it that way with 'smaller' egos/unproven players hungry to prove.

Boys will draft Todd or Melvin at 27 and have the best RB tandem in the league 2015... wait and see.

@fishsports: What if McFadden isn't DeMarco replacement but rather #Cowboys replace for the guy w the alleged fist shoved thru a Wichita Windshield?

What if he were DeMarco Murray and a bag of chips? Some teams actually do get more bang for the buck out of their free agent pickups. Having been a number one draft choice a few years ago I'd say he isn't chopped liver. Some teams would rather pay for past production of free agents in McFadden's case Dallas too is willing to pay for past production or lack of gambling a little in order to possibly gain a lot. I wish him the best as long as he is wearing the star.

Why is williams looked at as a lock to make the team?

Not saying he won't

But at this point it sounds more like wishful thinking considering the seasons worth of complaining that he didn't make the final 53.
