I don't agree. I think Hardy and Drew came to the table with a 1 year deal all along.

Right now with the public attention to domestic violence attached to the NFL and a looming, unknown suspension there is limited interest in the NFL for him. It is in his best interest to play for a show me season, clear out whatever suspension is coming, and get a year removed from the incident from a PR standpoint. If he has a good year in Dallas the line for him will be out the door for him next year as opposed to him being relegated to second tier status this year. Whatever number Jerry or Stephan put out this year, the potential to get much more is simply greater with every team who can afford him bidding for him next season.

In return he gave the Cowboys about the most club friendly 1 year deal he could possibly sign.

That makes no sense whatsoever. He has to play it out one year to hopefully repair his reputation to get his big long term deal, but if you gave him the big deal right now he'd take it. It would be idiotic not to on his end.

I think we will still be looking for talent there but it doesn't make it a forced move. We have two more drafts to see what we can do there. The important thing is that it allows us to take the best player available without pressing. That's a good thing no matter how you slice it.

So, like a number of people have said for days - we are looking at multiple comp. picks next year. 3rd for Murray etc..... Does Hardy being cut by his team previously count against us for comp. picks or no ? (If so , I guess that would wipe out the 3rd ?)

No but if he leaves after 2015 we could get a 3rd

it could if the right guy falls. Odighizuwa remains in play if available. But I'd have a hard time passing up Gurley, too.

I would not take Odi in the first round. I just don't see the pass rush there.

This was about the best deal we were going to get. We did not want to pony up a large amount of guaranteed money and that was the ONLY way a long term deal was happening. DR was smart enough to figure out that at this time a long term deal was NOT in the best interests of his pocketbook and by the way his clients. A one year rehabilitation contract was in the end the best for both sides.

if you have a shot at a good pass rusher you should always take it no matter what.

Very surprised anybody signed this guy - he's likely to be suspended a few games.

Why would he do that now when his value will never be lower? When there is no one else even interested in bidding?

If he keeps his nose clean this year there will be teams falling all over themselves to sign him, why take an offer from Jerry now when he can get a bidding war going next year?
