News: DC: Cowboys Agree To Terms With Pro Bowl DE Greg Hardy

Hardy will have made over 20 million dollars in two seasons, playing somewhere between 13-15 games (excluding playoffs). A few more if no suspension this year.

If he is great his next year, he will earn a huge contract worth, in all likelihood, another 25-35 million in guaranteed money. The only risk he is taking this year is injury and poor play, but he has earned very good money. I think it works well for him.

I was thinking the same thing. If he plays to his potential couldn't they start to work a deal before the contract ends?

They could, but I don't see why Hardy would. IMO the whole point of this deal for him - especially considering they made a point to put the no franchise clause in - is to make sure he cashes in on FA next year.

This was a huge need for this team that they were not going to be able to get through the draft. Now you can plug in someone like Goldman and have a very good starting DL. There has been no one that has been able to do what this guy has shown he can do since DWare was his age. This guy also brings a violence and attitude with him that was needed. Great signing.. Next year is next year. Every year is a new mix. Without this guy, the team would be significantly less competitive. Pass rush was the biggest sore spot last year that could not be covered up for.

True but he could cash in on Dallas no?

I just perused some of our NFC East rival forums to see what they were saying. I cannot find anything .

Sad, but very true. Of course there's always the possibility that the Cowboys win big this season and he falls in love with the place. There's a lot to be said for the Cowboys being the team that believed in him (even with the contract restraints) and giving him another chance when others would not. We shall see.

Well hopefully this shuts up the Dallas is doomed talk

Do you insist on being argumentative? I mean geez, does every, single, little thing have to be a debate? You are doing the same thing that I gather you are upset with other folks about. Did you have siblings who always made sure you were wrong, and now it's a race to say "I told you so" when you're right? Come on brother, Chillax!!!

Agreed, and I'd be fine if they played it like Murray, but obviously with a much higher ceiling. Go see what you can get, but give us a chance to match.
