IRVING, Texas – The Cowboys have agreed to terms on a contract for Pro Bowl defensive end Greg Hardy after two days of negotiations.

The deal comes after a lengthy conversation between the two sides. Hardy visited the Cowboys’ Valley Ranch facility on Tuesday afternoon and stayed overnight in Dallas before hammering out the terms on Wednesday. The move completes a whirlwind negotiation, as the Cowboys were first reported to be interested in Hardy on Monday and inked him to a contract on Wednesday.

This is undoubtedly the biggest signing of the Cowboys’ free agency window to this point. Dallas negotiated deals with veteran starters like Darren McFaddenand Jasper Brinkley last week, but Hardy is another category.

that's dumb as hell! sign him to several years. One year is a idiot move and puts us right back in the same boat next offseason. Were taking all the risk signing this guy. Another team can step in and take him after we take all the bad PR. This is nonsense

Great Signing! But please renegotiate throughout the season if possible. Did not expect that type of contract but love the player enuf to not care right now. They are showing their hand w/Romo. Now or never...Dez didn't get this consideration bc he is long term?

Hoping there is a club option for a 2nd year and wonder if the terms are based on Hardy playing a full season (i.e. his salary is reduced accordingly for each game missed due to the suspension).

he likely wasnt looking for a long term deal he wants a redemption year, if he doesn't play at a Pro Bowl level we can likely work out something cheaper long term, if he plays like expected, we tag, let walk or get into a bidding war for his services

Likely he thinks he's worth much more than that and is willing to prove it rather than taking a bargain deal. Hopefully, we have a clause to retain him like we did with Melton.

Hardy wants to make $ next year once all the DV stuff has blown over. It would have taken north of $16 mil/yr to sign him for multiple years imo

It's 11.3 mil, but will work out to be less than that once he's suspended. Question is for how long.
