Neither of them (Gordon or Gurley) will be there when we pick in the 1st. If it is a smokescreen, it could be to get someone ahead of us to take him thinking we want him at our pick... because we want someone else to fall, and/or have our sights set elsewhere in the draft for addressing RB.

I think we will see a Dez Bryant type trade to go up and grab him. We are moving up a few more spots than we did for Bryant, so it would likely be a trade with the Steelers (after the Steelers 3 of the next 4 teams seem to want Gordon) at 22, which would likely cost us a third but we could get back a 5th or so. I wouldn't mind that trade in the least for Gordon.

Can I ask why all of you are so down on Gordon? He has elite breakaway speed, that with our holes would lead to great yards. Some think he is better than Gurley, and many think he would be a good fit for our system (pretty much every analyst I have seen says that much). So I must ask if not him then who? A 4th DE who has never had a 10 sack year? A CB who has a lot of question marks (many are starting to have Johnson go in the early 20s now, so it likely won't be him and both Jones and Peters have some huge question marks). Trade down? What?

I heard on NFL Radio this morning that the Ravens are vocal in saying that they will take him at 26 if he is there. Could be a ploy if they think Dallas is high on him.

Rice is gone and Forsett is no spring chicken.

Seems pretty dumb to say it if they really mean it though.

No idea why anyone isn't high on Gordon. In my opinion he's the best back in the draft (perhaps if Gurley had played all season and performed at a high level I'd feel otherwise). Speed, power, vision, wiggle/balance, an ability to get skinny in between blocks. He has it all. I couldn't care less if someone says a college back needs to work on pass pro.

Ahhhh the smokescreens are coming out in full force today. Few hours ago it was the Ravens enamored w Gordon lol

Yup! Jerruh will never draft a RB in the 1st round unless he is the second coming of Jim Brown.

RB will be targeted in the 2nd or 3rd.

@TonyPauline: I'm told the Dallas Cowboys very high on Melvin Gordon/RB/Wisconsin and are targeting him in round one. Trade up?

Boom! Hope this is our guy..he's my #1 target

Not interested in moving up though

I'm not interested, period.

And I hope the Cowboys aren't either.

NFL draft insider Tony Pauline reports the Cowboys are "very high" on Wisconsin RB Melvin Gordon and are "targeting him in round one."

We've been separately told Todd Gurley is Cowboys VP Stephen Jones' No. 1 running back in the draft, but no RB boards will be finalized until Gurley visits Indianapolis this weekend for his medical recheck. What has become clear is multiple running backs will be drafted in the first round this year after the position was bypassed on day one each of the last two years.

I think he falls just under Gurley so I am NOT one that is so down on him like others.

I think however the pass blocking worries some and I think that some see him as being a product of Wisconsin system where they do great at Wisconsin but have less than stellar careers in the NFL. I think some also think that they play them so much at Wisconsin that they tend to have more mileage on them compared to other backs coming out in the draft.

Again...just what I have heard from various posters.

If you wanted one extra player that you wanted to possibly fall to you because someone traded up to get Gordon, this is exactly what you'd leak.

That is only if you believe he (gordon) is going to be there vs not be there.

Stop it, please.

The Cowboys aren't trading up to take Gordon.
It's a smoke screen. I think the Cowboys really want Tevin Coleman, assuming Gurley isn't there.
If Gurley is on the board (I don't think he will be with Detroit, San Diego, Baltimore and Arizona - who regrets not taking A.P.), the Cowboys will run to the podium and take him. But if not, they'll likely trade down and pick Coleman or take an available corner and then pick up Coleman in the second round, using the pick from the trade down as bait.

Id honestly rather take Ajayi at 27.

With how raw Gordon is at pass pro and receiving you would be seeing much more of McFadden then you want to. Id be fine with that with a 2nd or 3rd round HB. Not a first round HB

No he does not even have a first rd grade.

I have watched his gameplay vids at draftbreakdown, his pass protection worries are a bit overstated, yea his skills there are raw but they are developable (is that a word?). I can see the Wisconsin worries, but he isn't your typical Wisconsin back, and while he did have a lot of carries in college... it was still less than Murray had.

Sums it up well for me.

As well as seeing the myth of 'breakaway speed' debunked by his actual workouts.

But really, even if he wasn't going to be there at 27, maybe someone trades up further than 25 or earlier. It would s till serve the same purpose.
No idea if its a smokescreen/leak or not, but it wouldn't be the first time.
