what we need is somebody to take guys like Jalean collins and Eli Harold before us.
Wouldnt count this out at all. DEs and CBs always have a chance to get overdrafted

Before the combine he was rated as a 6th round pick......
Amazing what one 12'3 broad jump will do.
Gonna laugh @ who ever drafts him. Praying it's not us.......

Well, if we are looking at CB as a need, he makes a lot of sense IMO. He's not perfect and he will have to work on some things for sure but we are not going to get a finished product at CB in this class if we are not picking in the top 15 or so. If he's the pick, and I'm starting to think that CB is what's going to be on the board, I'm OK with it. Would love to have a guy like Trae Waynes but he's going to be long gone.
This guy could be a Free Safety. When I watch him, I think he might be a better fit there. He has issues playing off receivers. They can be corrected but he highpoints the ball so well, he is long and has speed to get to all quarters. It could be that we are looking at him as a possible CB or Safety if the team doesn't feel like he will be a good CB.
He was already a top 50 pick according to guys like Daniel Jeremiah before the combine.
Safetys need to be able to handle the pounding more so than a CB. And a safety who avoids contact... really?
I see Q. Rollins or PJ Williams as possible safteys if CB doesn't work out for them but Jones? Let's not go there.
And there is a reason Daniel Jeremiah has been let go 3 times as a scout.......
He doesn't avoid contact. He just doesn't lay into it like you might like. Strong Safeties need to do that but not Free Safeties. It's important that they do make the tackle but they don't have to be thumpers. Besides, I suspect that most of that is the shoulder issue he had last season.

I understand the difference but I am asking for game film where he actually tackles. Or attempts. They don't teach you to grab with your hands and drag they tell you to wrap up. I didn't see it. Did you? I'm not even asking him to tackle with authority but to make a textbook tackle. Maybe the shoulder injury is that serious.
all this hype and no show. I want to be proven wrong but I don't see it, not at 27 at least.
Well, he did just have surgery on it. If you find more then one or two game films, then you are doing well. I could not so I can not say how he tackled prior to the injury. I mean, it's not like the film I saw, he was missing tackles. He was simply dragging guys down, rather then making good solid tackles.
So no film. Where's all the hype coming from? From analysts that we all love? From the combine? Just saying, doesn't seem worthy of our 1st rounder.
I did not say, no film. I said little film, two games that I found. You, yourself said you saw him on film. Obviously, there is film out there, there is just not much. Having said this, what we see is not what scouts have access to. They have every game the kid has ever played. Just because we don't see it doesn't mean they don't. I've read no evaluation on this player that says he can't tackle or is unable to tackle. In fact, most say he needs work but is a willing tackler.
In a different draft, where there might be more talent at CB, he might not be a 1st round pick. In this draft, he may very well be.
I just don't understand the hype going on this forum. The title of this thread alone: "on the bandwagon" ??? Just tells me no one here really knows what they're getting from Byron Jones and just going by sweatpant measursbles.
