You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. The negative on our line in 2013 was Ronald Leary who had a -9.4 grade, even THAT was decent. Doug Free did just fine in 2013.

Not surprised by the super talented "eye test" from fans though.

If Free was so good in 2013 why was he rotating series with Parnell by the end of the season? Last year they slid help his way routinely leaving Leary in space. I guess they did that for no reason because he's an elite RT who just so happened took a paycut for the betterment of the team?

How soon are they allowed to sign their second contract could we sign his contract with the understanding that he will get more money by midseason

UDFAs can sign an extension after 2 seasons compared to 3 seasons for drafted players. Antonio Gates signed a 6/24m deal in 2005 after going undrafted in 2003. Someone will probably promise him that for signing, although it would probably be against the salary cap rules if discovered.

Otherwise teams would have his rights for 3/1.5m initially. Then they could give him a first round tender for 4m. Then they could franchise tag him for 13m. So all told they could have him for 5/18.5m.

That is almost exactly what he would make as the 16th pick in the 1st round. First contract would be 4/9m and the fifth year option would be around 8m. The big difference is that the first 9m would be guaranteed.

It's funny you mention this.

The Cowboys signed Don Perkins and Don Meredith prior to officially acquiring their rights to personal service contracts. Sounds like a fine time to revisit their old history.

Crafty. I'm guessing that was Tex. Hadn't heard that before. I have heard stories of young Al Davis doing similarly creative talent acquisition.

That was 2012, NOT 2013. Free took a pay cut because we felt he didn't play up to expectations in 2012, he was one of our best offensive lineman in 2013.

Think we have better than 50/50 chance of signing him?

With Jerry Jones as closer absolutely. Plus, when has Garrett NOT made a strong impression and gotten someone or something he wanted? I think they will sell the hell out of Dallas and I think if we get first meeting, it will be Collin's only meeting.

I have feeling whoever signs this kid is going to get a pissed off lineman.

The max amount of money is the same for everyone so no advantage there. There's the America's Team, the whole mythology that goes with being a Cowboy, but not sure that gets it done. I wonder if they tell him he competes for LG this year and then the starting RT in 2016.

Cutting Free after next season frees up $2.5M in cap room. Not that I want to see Free cut....

Doe shim signing pretty much bump weems off the roster if Green can handle swing tackle duties.

Weems may be in trouble already. Unless Gibson is moved to guard, I think we have our two reserve tackles in draftees Green and Gibson. Collins would be the exception.

What % of Lousiana are Cowboys fans as opposed to Saints fans. I would imagine it's probably at least 30%... any chance he's a huge Cowboys fan?
