Cowboys Mount Flushmore

You know me so well and you're right of course. I do love Terrell Owens. By the way, I am Owens in real life so this post is self-serving.

You are one of the biggest Cowboys fan around, but I just have to laugh at you and your dislike of T.O. for all these years! lol But, I do understand why.

Also, on the other side of the coin, that other poster (blue something) loved T.O. and I was on the computer the night T.O. got released and it hit him like a ton of rocks! lol I had fun with him that night.

Yep. I was the biggest hypocrite in the world for disliking Owens in Big D. And I was damn proud of it. Still am. :)

Good times. Good times. :)

Cowboys Mount Rushmore has true Dallas Cowboys included in the Ring Of Honor and/or enshrined in the Pro Football Hall Of Fame. In my opinion, the Cowboys Mount Flushmore should include true Dallas Cowboys also. For that reason, I cannot include Terrell Owens as much as I would want to. And I want to. I really really really really really really really really want to.

Anyhoo, my Cowboys Mount Flushmore:
  • Shante Carver
  • Billy Cannon Jr.
  • Quincy Carter
  • Bobby Carpenter
Honorable Mention: Jacques Reeves

Now who could we add that is still on the team to this nice little list. Let me think, better not say some will attack me, but a hint he is a recent draft pick.

Hey after he was on our star in a Eagle uniform it took a long while form most of us to accept him.

Bill Thomas - 1972 First Round pick never played an offensive snap for the Cowboys.
Rod Hill - 1982 First Round pick contributed heavily to the NFC Championship Game defeat to the Commanders with a muffed kick return. Poster child of the horrible Gil Brandt led drafts post 1977.
Sonny Gibbs - Top pick in 1962, Gibbs never threw a pass for the Cowboys, and was cut two years into a three year, no cut contract.
Dave Campo - The symbol of the large and in charge Jerry Jones Cowboys. When he got pantsed in practice by the secondary in 2008, it spoke volumes.

Bobby Carpenter tops the list because he cost a first and did absolutely nothing.

WR Roy Williams because he cost so much to acquire.

And Quincy because he had the physical talent to be a franchise QB but dbaged his way out of the league.

I do owe Owens. He served as inspiration for some of the best mess I cooked up for the forum back then. Here one of my personal favorites;

Little Jr started a Cowboys Mount Rushmore thread.

But what about the other end of the spectrum. What four would you like to eliminate from Cowboys lore altogether? Like they were never here. Call it Mount Flushmore.

I'll start. Emphasis on players/people that actually cost something in money or picks.

Terrell Owens, Quincy Carter, Wade Phillips, and Roy Williams (WR)

Roy Williams / Joey Galloway / Ryan Leaf / Quincy Carter

somewhere Campo needs to be represented......a good waste of 3 years of my Cowboys fandom!

and several more teaching DBs not to look for the ball.

Quincy Carter, Dave Campo, Joey Galloway and Jackie Smith

There was nothing wrong with Terrell Owens. Without him, we wouldn't have won the games we did during that time period.

If people are just honest with themselves, they held a grudge because of the "star" incident.
