Jason Pierre Paul "severely" injured hand in fireworks accident?

Why would an NFL player even risk a situation like this happening? Your body is your livelihood man, save the fun for retirement.

Rival or not I hate seeing athletes getting in these situations.

Should have signed his franchise tag offer.

If someone signs the franchise tender, is it fully guaranteed for injury, regardless of how that injury happened? Could there be a clause in the deal that allowed the team to recoup that money if the player were injured while engaging in risky behavior, such as motorcycle riding, skydiving, or playing with fireworks?

He hasnt signed his tender yet. Just like Dez.

Someone on a Giants forum posted that even if he had signed it he'd still be at risk because it only covers injuries related to football. So blowing off part of your hand with fireworks is not something they'd have to pay you for.

Wouldn't matter. Can void due to non-football injury.

Thanks, I found that out after I posted. These players never cease to amaze me, why on earth would he put himself at risk like that? If you really want your own fireworks show and you have that kind of money, hire someone to do it for you.

Adam Schefter ‏@AdamSchefter 45s46 seconds ago Jason Pierre-Paul expected to meet with doctors, they will have their say, but early indications are, hand injury is not career threatening.

Wow, that sounds bad.

He is always a good opponent for Tyron.

You mean like when Smith dominated him for five seconds so Romo to flip the game winner to Bryant in the last Giants game?

He's been overrated for a while. This is going to affect him, a lineman has limited hand use, namely grasping, it will make a difference.

Good point, usage of hands is extremely important for a DE.

Does not career threatening mean re-attached fingers after a year out of the league due to therapy?

Very vague descriptions. I am betting he lost a few digits.
