As long as Drew Brees is drawing breath, they are going to be a high scoring team imo

Brees was pretty average last year and their defense is still bad. So he can breath all he wants he isn't taking the same breathes he took 3 years ago anymore.

Only 8 teams outscored the Saints last year but their problem was on the other side of the ball as only 4 teams allowed more points than them.

If I was Hardy-- from a PR perspective for his career-- I would not fight it in court. Take the hit-- apologize profusely for my mistakes-- thank the Cowboys and NFL for a second chance-- and then take all my frustration out on the football field.

Acknowledging his fault in this situation is key to him being able to move forward and get on with his career. 10 games was an unfair penalty. 4 games fits the crime. Embrace it and move on.

I read somewhere that attorney costs were getting out of control for Hardy.

They've likely already done most of the time consuming background work on the case. Each game is worth 500K to him.

Even if they are billing at $300 per hour, it would be hard to imagine billing anywhere close to 1000 hours. A man-year (1 person working full time for a year) is about 2000 hours.

Having said all of that, the NFLPA should be pursuing the issue if the NFL really violated the 2 game max that was under the old guidelines which Judge Doty order the NFL to adhere to. The NFLPA should never let the NFL get by with violating an rules.

If I was Hardy's agent I would advise him to take this and move on. I would also tell him this is further proof that the NFL gave him 10 games to sound tough on DV with the full intention it would be reduced later after the press coverage died down.
Agreed. I think the league is happy with this. They get to look tough on DV which is all they care about.

Going to court for Hardy is riskier than people think. It might be best to just take the 4 at the start of the season than risk missing games later.

Yeah, I'd pursue further action for that reason.

I'd also pursue it just to increase further exposure on the drastic reduction, and how ridiculous the 10 game suspension was in the first place. The more I can get attention to the fact that there was a 6 game discrepancy in the national media and thereby forming public opinion that Goodell has terrible judgment, all the better for me.

You're also talking about potentially a million bucks difference in salary. That isn't exactly pocket change.

I think the league should be tough on DV, the Ray Rice situation was a joke. League also should abide by the rules they have set out at the time of the incident but the league taking a harder stance on DV I'm all for it.

The reduction to four games is an admission by the league that it should be two games or less.

Appeal.

Meanwhile, Brady will get to see the full force of Dallas' new pass rush. And hopefully on his first game back.

If it were me, I would probably give real serious consideration to taking the 4 games. However, it might come down to what the NFLPA thinks of this. They may encourage him to go forward with this. They may believe that it impacts other players and as such, needs to be further litigated. Will be interesting to see how this works out.
